조선시대 17세기 『시경』 읽기의 다각화 양상 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 17세기 『시경』 읽기의 다양한 양상을 고찰함으로써 조선시대 시경학 맥락의 연속성을 보다 선명히 이해하고 시경학 자료의 논의 범위를 확장하여 17세기 시경학을 풍부히 하는데 주요 목적이 있다. 17세기 『시경』에 관한 언급은 주석서와 같은 전문 연구보다는 단편적, 단상적인 언급이 더 많은 부분을 차지한다. 이에 본 연구의 고찰 대상을 확대하여 17세기에 주로 활동한 학자들의 문집에 거론된 『시경』에 관한 단편적인 언급을 조합하는 방식을 취하였으며 ‘『시경』 읽기’라는 접근 방식에 초점을 두었다. 經筵, 科擧 등 『시경』설의 특정 기준을 지향하는 읽기와 다른 시각을 열어둔 읽기, 感悟와 聯想의 읽기로 나누어 고찰하였다. 이 과정에서 주자설이 불완전하거나 부재한 공간을 읽는 방식을 보다 집중적으로 살폈고 다른 시각을 열어둔 읽기 양상을 고찰하였으며 感悟式, 聯想式 읽기 경향의 중시가 『시경』이 경학의 범주임과 동시에 문학과 표현 범주로의 운용·확장에 중요한 작용을 하였음을 살폈다. 본고의 접근 방식은, 경학사, 문학사 내지 사상사의 맥락에서 『시경』을 조망하기에는 일정한 한계를 지닐 수 있다. 반면 개별 주석서나 특정 史的 맥락 구도에서는 논의되기 어려운, 해당 시기 『시경』 읽기의 다양한 편린들을 보완하여 17세기 시경학을 다채롭게 이해하는데 일정 정도 참고가 될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

영문 초록

The main purpose of this study is to clarify the continuity of the context of readings of the Book of Songs in the 17th century Joseon Dynasty and to expand the scope of the related discussion, thereby enriching the 17th century’s reading of the Book of Songs in Joseon Dynasty. The references to the Book of Songs in the 17th century Joseon Dynasty are fragmentary. On this account, the study was expanded to include a combination of fragmentary references to the Book of Songs, which was mentioned in the literary works of scholars who mainly worked in the 17th century, and focused on the approach of “readings of the Book of Songs.” It was considered by dividing the reading into the readings for the specific criteria in royal lecture(經筵), Civil Service Examination(科擧), etc., and the reading for gnosis(感悟) and association(聯想) left a different perspective open. In this process, the method of reading incomplete or missing space was more focused, and the aspects of reading that were left open were considered, and the medium of the way of gnostic(感悟) and associative(聯想) reading tendency were important in expanding the boundaries between literature and writing expression, even though the Book of Songs belongs to a category of study of the Classics. Our approach may have certain limitations to look at the context of history, literature, or thought reflected in the study of the Book of Songs in the 17th century Joseon Dynasty. On the other hand, it is believed that it can be used for a certain amount of understanding the 17th century s visual history by supplementing the various expedients of reading at the time of the period, which cannot be discussed in the context of a particular historical context.
