국문 초록

한국 사회는 현재 심각한 커뮤니케이션위기와 공론장위기를 경험하고 있다. 이들 위기는 오랜 기간 주류저널리즘에 의해 축적된 결과이다. 그동안 주류저널리즘은 게이트키핑의 명분 아래 여론을 호도하거나 과도한 정치적 당파성이나 경제적 이해를 여과 없이 전달하였다. 그러나 디지털 미디어의 출현으로 저널리즘이 주도했던 위기에 변화의 조짐이 보이기 시작한다. 본 연구는 디지털 미디어를 통해 나타나는 한국 공론장의 구조변동과정을 설명하고 미래를 전망할 것이다. 이러한 연구를 진행하기 위하여 본 연구는 네 개의 이론을 활용한다. 2장에서는 체계이론, 커뮤니케이션행위이론, 그리고 정치경제학적 이론을 소개할 것이다. 각각의 특징을 가지는 이 이론들은 한국사회에 적용하기에는 장점과 단점을 동시에 가진다. 특히 커뮤니케이션행위이론은 독일사회와 그리고 정치경제학 이론은 미국사회와 긴밀하게 연관되어 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 한계를 보완하기 위하여 행위자이론을 동원할 것이다. 3장에서는 네 가지 이론을 새롭게 구성하여 한국사회에 공론장이 어떻게 변화하고 있는지를 구체적으로 설명할 것이다. 결론에서는 공론장의 미시적 그리고 거시적 차원의 변화 그리고 다른 영역들과의 관계를 통해 불확실성의 세계화시대를 전망할 것이다.

영문 초록

Korean society is undergoing urgent crises in communication and public sphere. These crises result from a long term accumulation of journalism. In the meantime, under the name of gate keeping, journalism has misled public opinion or delivered political partisan and economic interest without filtering. However, with the advent of digital media, signs of change is being shown in critical environment caused by this journalism. This article accounts for the structural changing process in the Korean public sphere through the lens of digital media, and prospects for the future change in public sphere. For attaining this purpose, to begin with this article uses four kinds of media theories, which are system theory, the theory of communicative action, and the theory of political economy. In chapter 2, these three kinds of theories will be introduced respectively. Although each theory has its own merits, it also has limitations for applying to Korean society. This article will use the actor theory to make up for the limitations. Furthermore, in chapter 3, this article will deal with four theories newly reconstructed, and explain the way how public sphere in Korean society would be changed. Finally, this article will predict the uncertainty and the complexity of globalization era from the view of the micro and macro dimensions, and the transforming relation between the public sphere and other functional systems.
