한국 기독교 생태공동체운동의 현황과 미래적 과제

국문 초록

오늘날 생태공동체운동은 자본주의 확산에 따라 생겨난 인간소외와 생태위기 문제를 극복하는 사회적 대안으로 떠오르고 있다. 일반적으로 생태공동체 운동의 특징은 생태성과 사회공동체성, 그리고 문화영성이다. 이 논문은 우리나라 기독교 생태공동체운동의 현실을 분석하고 미래적 과제를 탐색하는데 목적이 있다. 지리산 두레마을과 장성의 한마음공동체는 우리나라 기독교 생태공동체운동의 대표적 사례라 할 수 있다. 둘 다 기독교 신앙에 기초하여 하나님, 사람, 그리고 자연의 조화를 추구한다. 유기농생산과 유통에 기초하여 도시와 농촌의 상생을 추구하며, 의식주에서 지속가능한 삶, 그리고 생태문화를 추구한다. 기독교 생태공동체의 지속적 발전을 위해서 우선 신학적 토대가 분명해야 하며, 다음으로 실천 과제의 해결이 필요하다. 생태공동체의 신학적 토대는 생태신학, 공동체신학 그리고 생태학적 영성과 노동신학이다. 생태신학은 기독교 생태공동체의 지도 이념이 된다. 공동체 신학은 공동체 운영과정에서 생기는 현실적 문제들을 이해하고 해결하는데 도움이 된다. 생태학적 영성과 노동신학은 기독교 생태공동체 구성원들을 창조적이고 생기있게 만든다. 우리나라 기독교 생태공동체운동이 해결해야 할 현실적 문제들은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 공동체의 이념의 유지를 위해 종교의식을 강화하고 교육 프로그램을 마련해야 한다. 둘째, 지속가능한 삶을 실천하기 위해 생태학적 의식주와 에너지 해결책을 마련해야 한다. 셋째, 경제적 자립을 위해 유기농 생산과 유통만이 아니라 다양한 생태문화 사업의 발굴이 필요하다. 넷째, 인간관계의 갈등을 해결하기 위해 민주적인 지도력을 형성해야 한다. 마지막으로, 개방적인 네트워킹을 통해 공동체의 폐쇄성을 극복해야 한다.

영문 초록

In recent years, many people are discovering the eco-community movement as an alternative to the social problem of human alienation and ecological crisis caused by modern capitalism. Scholars emphasized the importance of social, ecological, and spiritual dimensions, as a characteristics of Eco-communities. Each dimensions of Eco-communities is tied to a number of specific tasks that have been suggested. This indicated that we need to analyze the reality of the Christian eco-communities and to seek the tasks for its future from the perspective of the Christian ethics. Examining such a reality and task is a primary aim of this article. The Doorae Community in the mountain Jiri and the Hanmaum Community in Jangseong, Cholla province, are regarded as a model for the eco-communities movement. They pursue the harmony among God, human being, and the nature on the basis of Christian faith. For the development of the Christian eco-communities, it is important to have a solid theological foundation and solve the practical problems. In general, the Christian eco-communities are grounded on the basis of the ecological theology, the theology of community, and the ecological spirituality. In this paper, the practical tasks of the Christian eco-communities in Korea are suggested in five ways. Firstly, it is necessary to enforce religious ceremonies and to equip the educational program for ecological and communal consciousness. Secondly, we should make an effort to find a sustainable lifestyle in the area of ecological food, clothes, shelter and energy forms. Thirdly, to achieve economical independence, it is necessary to improve their competitiveness in organic agricultural products as well as various eco-cultural commercial items. Fourthly, we need to create a democratical leadership to solve the conflicts among the community members. Lastly, we should be more open toward other local communities and the local government by way of networking.
