<지네각시> 설화의 분석심리학적 해석의 시론(試論)

국문 초록

이 논문에서는 융(Jung)의 분석심리학적 방법으로 <지네각시> 설화의 해석을 시도하였다. 이야기의 요점은 다음과 같다. 한 남자가 자살하기 위해 산에 갔다가 지네각시를 만나 부부의 연을 맺고 함께 산다. 세월이 흘러 옛집에 갔다가 돌아오는 길에 아버지를 만나고 각시를 죽이 라는 명령을 받는다. 고심 끝에 아버지의 명을 거역하고 각시를 살린다. 각시는 승천하고 남자는 옛집으로 돌아와 부를 누리며 행복하게 산다. 분석심리학적 민담해석은 민담에 드러난 무의식의 내용을 심층적으로 이해하는 것이다. 민담에 나타나는 원형상들은 인간의 정신적 활동을 상징적으로 보여줌으로써 인간 심층에 내재된 무의식의 원리를 체험하게 한다. <지네각시> 설화는 자살을 시도했던 중년 남성이 행복을 찾아가는 이야기로, 무의식으로의 여행을 통해 정신적 결핍을 극복하고 자기실 현에 이르는 과정을 보여준다. <지네각시> 설화에 등장하는 지네각시는 가부장제 사회 속에서 억압된 주인공 남자의 아니마(anima)가 인격화되어 나타난 것으로, 그녀는 남자로 하여금 전체정신을 실현할 수 있도록 이끌어주는 역할을 한다. 혈족으로 나타나는 구렁이는 부정적인 부성상(父性像)으로서 무의식으로 퇴행을 막는 권위적인 아버지를 의미한다. 하지만 남자는 아버지를 거부하고 진지하고 경건한 태도로 내면세계를 돌아봄으로써 진정한 자신을 되찾게 된다. 이것은 ‘아버지의 아들에 대한 개신(改新)’이라는 원형적 주제의 되풀이로서 아버지로 상징되는 경직된 지배원리가 새롭게 변화되어야 함을 시사해주는 것이기도 하다. 요컨대 <지네각시> 설화는 부성 콤플렉스를 극복하고 여성성을 회복함으 로써 자기실현에 이르는 한 남성의 이야기인 동시에 남성중심의 경직된 집단의식이 무의식의 작용으로 변화되고 전체정신으로 통합되어야 함을 지적하는 이야기이다.

영문 초록

This thesis attempted to interpret , a folktale, by using Jung s analytical psychological methods. A man who decided to commit suicide went to the mountains and encounters a Jinegaksi and then, they were joined in marriage and lived together. After many years, he visited his old home and met his father on his way back and was ordered to take wife s life. After much consideration, he did not obey his father s order, but spared her life. Then, Jinegaksi ascended to heaven and the man returned his old home and lived happily while enjoying great fortune. The analytical psychological interpretation of folktales is to profoundly understand unconscious contents shown in them. Archetypal images appearing in folktales allow human beings to experience unconscious principles embedded in the depths of them, by symbolically exhibiting their psychological activities. , a story in which a middle-aged man who tried to commit suicide gradually found happiness, show the process in which he resolved his psychological deficiency and at last achieved self-realization, by undergoing the journey to the unconsciousness. Jinegaksi appearing in the folktale, is the personified anima of the man, a hero who is suppressed in the patriarchal society, and she serves to guide him to realize his whole psychology. The serpent which appears as his kin means an authoritative father with a negative paternal image, who unconsciously prevents degradation. The man, however, refused his father and recovered the true self, by seriously and piously reflecting on his inner world. This is a epetition of the archetypal theme of ‘reformation(改新) of sons by fathers’, indicating that the rigid ruling principle represented by the father should be newly changed. thus is a story of the man who achieves self-realization by overcoming the father complex and recovering his anima and it also suggests that the man-centered rigid group consciousness should be unconsciously changed and integrated.
