언양(彦陽) 유배기 포은시의 몇 가지 양상

국문 초록

본 논문에서는 언양 유배기 포은 정몽주가 지은 시를 상세하게 고찰하였다. 언양 유배기 포은의 시는 시기상 세 부류로 나눌 수 있다. 언양에서 지은 시, 종편(從便)된 후 김해에서 지은 시, 해배되어 개경으로 돌아오는 중에 쓴 시 등이 그것이다. 언양에서 지은 시는 유종원의 시에 차운한 것이다. 포은과 유종원은 모두 실력과 합리성을 갖춘 신진사인(新進士人)으로서 당시의 정치현실을 개혁 하고자 노력했다는 공통점이 있다. 또한 두 사람은 모두 권신(權臣)에게 맞서다 귀양을 가거나 좌천되었다. 그들의 시에는 자신들의 고통스러운 현실에 대한 슬픔과 비탄이 담겨 있다. 하지만 그런 와중에도 언젠가 이곳을 떠나 더 나은 공간으로 가리라는 기대와 희망을 버리지 않았다. 김해에서 지은 시들은 주로 연자루(燕子樓)와 관련이 있다. 내용을 보면 유배객의 처지에서 느끼는 안타까운 감정에 집중하기보다는 그 지역의 풍물과 유적지, 인물에 얽힌 사연들에 초점을 맞추어 사실들을 언급하고 지난 날을 회고하는 정도였다. 훗날 포은이 쓴 「김해산성기」를 읽어보면 그가 지닌 관료, 행정가, 지략가로서의 정체성을 더욱 분명하게 느낄 수 있다. 해배 후 상경 도중에 의성과 영천 등에 들러 지은 시들에서는 알 수 없는 미래에 대한 슬픔과 절망이 느껴진다. 동시에 자신을 ‘절름발이 나귀’에 빗대며 현재 처한 상황을 담담하게 받아들이겠다는 체념도 엿보인다. 포은은 또한 공자의 제자 자유(子游)가 다스렸던 무성(武城)에 영주(榮州)를 빗대 며 동료이자 명관이었던 정습인(鄭習仁)·최원유(崔元濡)·하륜(河崙) 등을 떠올렸다. 비록 해배되어 상경하는 길이었지만 그의 유자로서의 정체 성, 위정자로서 민(民)을 살피는 시각에는 변함이 없음을 알 수 있다. 김구용(金九容)과 정도전(鄭道傳)도 유배 기간 다수의 시를 저작하였다. 이들의 시에서는 자연에 귀의하고자 하는 마음과 현실에 대한 미련, 환로에서 뜻을 펼치고픈 열망 사이에서 느끼는 깊은 갈등이 선명하게 드러난다. 이러한 점은 포은의 언양 유배기 시에서는 찾기 어려운 특징들이다. 포은의 시가 척약재·삼봉의 시와 다른 면모를 보이는 이유는, 일차적으로 그의 언양 유배 관련 저작이 많이 남아 있지 않은 데에 원인이 있다 할 것이다. 그러나 한편으로는 유배 이후 그들의 다른 행로가 보여주듯이 각자 미래를 바라보는 방향이 달랐기 때문이 아니었을까 추측한다.

영문 초록

In this paper, I studied intensively about Poeun Jeong Mong-ju’s poems composed during the period of his banishment. He was exiled to Eonyang(Ulsan) at the age of 39. He composed a poem in Eonyang, composed four poems in Gimhae. He also composed five poems on the way to Gaegyeong, the capital of Goryo. His poem composed in Eonyang was related to Yu Jong-won’s poem. Yu Jong-won was a poet of Tang Dynasty, China. Poeun got inspiration and adapted an end rime from Yu Jong-won’s poem. They have something in common. They were both rising scholars at their times. They both had capacity and rationality to revamp politics. For all that, they were exiled to a remote place why they resisted political authority. In their poems, they expressed grief and lamentation from painful realities of life. But they still hoped to be released from banishment and move on to better place. Poeun’s poems composed in Gimhae were mainly related to Yeonja Pavilion. He described his feelings and historical facts focused on the scenery, historic sites, and important people of Gimhae. He did not express deep sorrow as an exile there. After he wrote The record of Gimhae Fortress. If you read it, you will understand his mind as an official, administrator, and an strategist. After he was free from an exile, he composed poems on the way to Gaegyeong. He came to the capital by travelling through Uisung and Youngcheon. In his poems there, he showed sadness and desperation for uncertain future. Also he compared himself to a lame donkey. He seemed to accept present conditions silently. Poeun remembered Ja-you, a disciple of Confucius, who governed Museong quite well. He thought Youngcheon similar to Museong and reminded great governors of Youngcheon such as Jeong Seup-in, Choi Won-yu, and Ha Ryun. Poeun still held on an attitude as a good Confucianist and governor, though he was just free from an exile. Kim Gu-yong and Jeong Do-jeon were also exiled to a remote place for the same reason. They composed many poems there. Reading their poems, you can recognize serious conflict between retirement from the world and government service plainly. Their poems are different from Poeun’s poems. They composed many poems in a place of exile while Poeun composed only one poem there. Furthermore they imagined the future of the nation differently from Poeun.
