고려말 유배지와 유배시의 양상

국문 초록

본고는 고려말 신진사류의 유배상황과 유배시의 양상을 살펴보았다. 고려말의 유배시는 우리나라 유배문학의 시작이라고 할 수 있다. 이전에 존재하는 유배시들은 정치적인 원인에 의한 유배가 아니라 실책에 대하여 받은 실형이었기 때문에 일반적인 유배시와는 성격이 다르다. 따라서 본격적인 유배시로 논의할 수 있는 자료는 고려말 신진사류들이 남긴 시문들이 처음 이라고 할 수 있다. 이들은 목은 이색을 중심으로 성균관에서 성리학을 가르치고, 연구하였던 인물들이 중심이 되었다. 포은 정몽주, 도은 이숭인, 척약재 김구용, 삼봉 정도전 등이며, 그 외 호정 하륜, 양촌 권근, 인재 이종학 등의 후학들도 포함되었다. 이들은 성리학 학습을 통해 형성된 의리와 대의명분을 중요하게 생각하였으며, 이것을 지키기 위하여 정치적인 유배형을 받게 되었다. 이들은 자신들의 의견이 받아들여지지 않는 현실에 대하여 강개한 심정을 토로하기도 하였다. 그러나 이러한 강개한 심정은 다시 자기반성으로 수렴되어 나타나게 되었다. 또한 어떠한 상황에서도 임금에 대한 원망을 나타내지 않았으며, 항상 임금을 그리워하고 태평성대를 이루어 백성들을 올바르게 이끌 수 있기를 꿈꾸었다. 이들 신진사류들은 대부분 성리학 학습을 통해 서로에게 강한 믿음이 있었으며, 정치적인 지향점도 비슷하였다. 그렇기 때문에 지역은 달라도 같은 시기에 같은 이유로 유배되었다는 공통점을 가지고 있었다. 따라서 서로를 안타까워하며 그리워하는 동병상련을 느끼고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This Study investigates Neo-Confucian Scholars’ conditions of exile and the aspects of exile poems they wrote. The exile poems that existed before late Goryeo Dynasty had been written by the people exiled not by political reason but by crimes they committed. Therefore, the poetry and prose that Neo-Confucian Scholars wrote can be the first that can be discussed as genuine exile poems. Most of Neo-Confucian Scholars in late Goryeo were the ones, in the center of Mogeun, that taught and studied Neo-Confucianism in Sungkyunkwan, They conformed a just and great cause by studying Neo-Confucianism but were sentenced to political exile in the process of keeping the cause. The characteristics of the poetry that Neo-Confucian Scholars in late Goryeo left are as follows. First, Neo-Confucian Scholars expressed their regrets in their poems that their opinions had not been accepted by the country, which were represented again as self-reflection. Second, it is shown in their poems that they yearned for the King all the time, missed their parents and had a dream that they lead the people under a reign of peace. Third, the fact that they had a sympathy of missing and feeling sorry one another because they had a strong bond formed by studying Neo-Confucianism is found in their poems.
