국문 초록

본 연구는 과업과 고용 및 보상구조에서 특이한 지위를 지닌 캐디 집단의 직업정체성을 파악하기 위하여 수행되었으며, 초기 연구에 적합하면서 고유요인의 추출에 유리한 질적 연구방법에 의하여 진행되었다. 질적 데이터의 분석 결과 캐디들은 자신의 직업을 일용직으로 축약하여 인식하는 경향을 보였는데, 일용직이라는 인식은 이들의 직업 특징과는 차이가 있다. 이러한 현상의 배경을 이들의 직업이 갖는 중첩된 모호함에서 찾을 수 있었다. 직업정체 성은 흔히 직업의 특징에서 구체화되는데, 여러 가지 측면에서 경계에 있는 직업특성 때문에 이들의 직업정체성도 애매모호함이 중첩된 경계선 상에서 형성 되며, 정체성 혼미의 전형적인 특징을 보이고 있다. 본 연구에서는 캐디라는 집단에서 발견되는 모호한 정체성, 애매함이 거듭 중첩된 직업 이미지를 다중 경계정체성으로 명명하였다. 다중 경계정체성으로 인하여 캐디들은 자기고양감 제고의 도구가 될 수 있는 보상만족을 근거로 자신들의 직업을돈 버는 직업으로 과잉 단순화시키는 경향이 있으며, 이러한 직업정체성 혼미는 정상적인 과업집단이나 우호집단을 형성하지 못하는 문화와 행태로 연결되고 있음을 발견하였다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the job identity out of various job characteristics, which would be found commonly in the caddie group. The study was conducted by the qualitative research methods appropriate for the initial research to extract the unique factors. The golf caddie is a job having unstable legal status, neither workers nor business operators. Even though they work for organizations, caddies are self-employed who cannot be protected legally as laborers. In addition, they were not only emotional workers but also physical workers. The results of data analysis showed that the job identity that they perceived themselves, was quite simpler than expected like daily workers, which were a bit distant from what they did. This phenomenon resulted from partially ambiguity of their job. With the job characteristics discussed above, their job identity was formed in the overlapped boundary of ambiguity, which was the typical characteristics of the confusion of job identify. This ambiguous identity which the caddies made in the border lines of various job groups, was called ‘multiple borderline identity’ by researchers. In the process of forming job identity, they tended to perceive in the simplest way, because the recognition objects were ambiguous and vague. It was found that they over-abbreviated their job just for making money, based on the compensation satisfaction that could be a instrument to raise their self-enhancement. The caddie’s confusion of the job identity is linked to the culture in which they do not form the normal task groups and support groups.
