영문 초록

This paper explains the issue of what Confucianism means from a woman s perspective focusing on Yosaseo (Four Books for Girls) and So-hak for Woman, Yeosileogyo mainly published from a Confucian standpoint among Oraimono with lessons as the main contents. To this end, we examine the role or function of the lesson type Oraimono when pre-modern women were establishing their self-image. The lesson type Oraimono is mainly about ethics and morality based on Confucianism rather than traditional ethics and morality in Japan. Therefore, it is the lesson type Oraimono through which the question of recognition and understanding of what Confucianism meant for pre-modern women can be seen. Through the clarification of this question, we can think of pre-modern women s way of embracing Confucianism, that is, Confucian Praxis, the mode of personal and social role and practice in Confucianism. If we consider the meaning of lesson type Oraimono in terms of social supply and function of Confucianism, it can be understood as the emergence of women who have acquired Confucian ethics and morality. The lesson books for women focus on how to practice Confucian moral ethics in daily life. Thus, the practice of Confucian remarks by women can be understood as a process in which women themselves identify their position in their homes and societies. From this point of view, we can reconsider the meaning of Confucianism to women in terms of not being a generalized point of view of women s oppression and discrimination. In this respect, the approach to Confucian Praxis can be said to be valid.
