초등학교 교사의 목공교육 실행 경험에 대한 내러티브 탐구

국문 초록

이 연구는 초등학교 교사들의 목공교육 실행 과정을 내러티브 탐구기법으로 분석하여 목공 교육의 실행 과정에서 초등학교 교사들이 인식하는 목공교육의 의미를 규명하는 것을 목적으로 하며, 초등학교에서 목공교육을 성실히 실행하고 있는 3인의 교사를 면담하였다. 연구를 통해 얻은 성과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학교에서 목공교육을 실행하는 교사의 특성은 세 교사 모두 대학에서 실과를 전공하였으며, 성장과정에서 나무를 사용하여 다양한 생활용품을 만들어 본 경험이 있고 목재를 가지고 물건을 만드는 것에 흥미를 가지고 있었다. 둘째, 초등학교에서 목공교육을 실행하는 교사들의 목공교육 실행 양상은 세 교사 모두 목공교육을 통해 단순히 작품을 만드는 것에 주안점을 두지 않고, 학생들이 작업 과정에서 자신의 모습을 발견하고 성숙한 모습으로 나갈 수 있도록 수업을 설계하였으며, 목공교육을 실행하는 방법으로는 공통적으로 세트화 된 재료를 활용하는 것이 아니라 직접 판재를 구입하여 수업하였다. 셋째, 초등학교에서 목공교육을 실행하고 있는 교사들이 인식한 목공교육의 의미는 학생들에 게 있어서는 인내심과 배려심, 그리고 협동심을 기를 수 있었으며, 교사는 목공수업을 준비하고 실행하는 과정을 거치면서 교사로서 전문성이 신장되는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 또한 세 교사의 목공수업을 본 주변 동료교사들이 목공수업에 대해 관심을 갖게 된 것, 목공교육을 하는데 있어서 필요한 기본 목공도구, 목공실 등 실습 장비를 구축한 것, 그리고 실과교육과정 집필에 참여하여 교사들이 실과교육과 목공교육에 대해 관심을 가질 수 있도록 하는 등 실과교 육과 학교환경에도 의미가 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to describe the practices of woodwork education through narrative inquiry research method, and to seek the meaning of woodwork education that elementary school teachers recognize in the courses. For this purpose, this research was carried out by narrative inquiry research method that Clandinin and Connelly proposed. Also, the study participants to be interviewed were 3 teachers who were practicing woodwork education sincerely in elementary schools. Summarizing the results obtained from the above study are as follows. First, the 3 elementary school teachers who were implementing woodwork education majored in practical art education at universities. Also, they had experiences to create various daily supplies in the growth process, and were interested in making objects with wood. They didn t receive any special training related to woodworking after they became teachers. However, they started studies by a personal interest and currently possessed woodworking skills that they could make various daily supplies for themselves. Second, the 3 research participants simply didn t place an emphasis on creating works. They designed classes that students could discover themselves and get growth in the woodworking process. In addition, they implemented woodwork education by purchasing woods directly. Third, the meaning of woodwork education that the 3 research participants recognized was that students could learn to be patient, thoughtful and cooperative, and teachers could develop professionalism in the process of woodwork education. Also, the meaning in the practical art education and environmental education was that fellow teachers of the 3 research participants got interested in woodworking classes by seeing their classes, and actual training equipments such as basic woodworking tools were constructed, and teachers were interested in practical art education and woodwork education by participating in writing practical art education curriculum.
