This research study aims principally to analyse the short and medium-term institutional strategies implemented by tourism bodies to overcome a human-induced crisis, to pinpoint the impact of the latter on tourism, and their following levels of success or failure, along with the ongoing adverse events. The methodology consists of a compilation of qualitative methods, defalcated in three different phases. The first stage is the ethnographic research based on participant observation, in the premises of the Ministry of tourism in Tunisia. The second part is the study of similar happenings in selected countries and the duly applied strategies. Finally, a deductive analysis is used to bring to light both the success and lack of success of the formerly identified strategies. This paper maintains the notion of ‘learn from others’ experiences’, and confirms the fluctuations existing between the different scenarios according to external factors differing from one state to another.
