국문 초록

관광인프라는 한번 구축되면 장기간에 걸쳐서 공급되는 데 반해 관광수요가 급격하게 변 동한다면 수요와 공급의 괴리가 크게 발생하여 안정적인 관광 산업을 유지하기 어렵다. 따라서 관광수요의 변동성을 분석하여 예측하는 것은 관광수요를 예측하는 것만큼이나 중요하다. 본 연구에서 일본의 한국 방문관광객수(인바운드 관광수요)와 한국의 일본 방문 관광객수(아 웃바운드 관광수요)를 구분하여 각각의 변동성을 GARCH 모형과 GJR-GARCH 모형을 이용 하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 후쿠시마 원전사고가 인바운드 관광수요 변화율과 아웃바운 드 관광수요 변화율에 미치는 영향은 각각 다른 것으로 나타났다. 후쿠시마 원전사고 이후 인바운드 관광수요에는 별 차이가 없지만, 아웃바운드 관광수요에는 큰 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 인바운드 및 아웃바운드 관광수요 변화율의 변동성은 특정 시기에 군집하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 아웃바운드 관광수요 변화율의 변동성에는 비대칭효과가 존재하지만, 인바운드 관광수요 변화율의 변동성에는 비대칭효과가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 다시 말해, 일본인의 한국 관광수요 변동성은 호재와 악재에 동일한 수준으로 반응하지만, 한국인의 일본 관광수요 변동성은 호재보다 악재에 더 크게 반응하였다.

영문 초록

In this study, we analyzed the volatility of the number of Japanese tourists visiting Korea (inbound tourist demand) and the number of Japanese tourists visiting Japan (outbound tourist demand). GARCH model and GJR-GARCH model were used to estimate the movement of inbound tourism demand and outbound tourism demand volatility. First, the effects of Fukushima nuclear accident on inbound tourism demand and outbound tourism demand volatility were different. There was no significant difference in inbound tourism demand volatility during the Fukushima nuclear accident, but there was a big difference in outbound tourism demand volatility. Second, the volatility of inbound and outbound tourist demand is clustered at a specific time. Third, there is asymmetric effect on outbound tourism demand volatility, but there is no asymmetric effect on inbound tourism demand volatility.
