국문 초록

본 연구는 다문화 사회에 대응하는 학교 교육과정의 개발 방향을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 우선적으로 선행 연구들을 중심으로 다문화 사회와 다문화 교육의 의미를 고찰하고, 현재 학교 교육과정에서의 변화들을 탐색하였다. 또한 7차와 2007 개정 교육과정 총론 문서상에 제시된 다문화 내용 요소를 분석한 후 다문화 사회에 대응하는 학교 교육과정 개발 방향을 논의하였다. 논의 결과, 다문화 사회에 대응하는 학교 교육과정 개발 방향으로 하나의 체제적인 접근 방법을 제시하였으며 이는 교육과정 각 구성 요소별로 지향해야 할 점을 중심으로 논의하였다. 즉, 정체성과 다양성 있는 목표 구성, 소수 인종과 문화 집단의 총체적 관점이 포함된 내용 선정, 교과 및 교과 외 활동을 통한 다양하고 지속적인 기회를 통합적인 방법으로 제공, 목표, 내용 및 방법 등과 일관적이고 체계적인 평가를 방향으로 설정하였다. 아울러 이러한 네 가지 요소를 하나의 체제로 연결할 수 있는 인적․물적 지원도 개발 방향의 요소로 제시하였다. 이러한 연구 과정을 통해 얻은 다문화 사회에 대응하는 학교 교육과정 개발 방향에 대한 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화 사회에 대응하는 학교 교육과정은 일부 소수만을 위한 것이 아니라 모든 학생을 대상으로 하는 교육과정으로 개발되어야 한다. 둘째, 다문화 사회에 대응하는 학교 교육과정은 학교 교육과정의 목표뿐만 아니라 내용, 방법, 평가 그리고 기타 인적․물적 지원까지도 다문화 교육을 실현하기 위한 체제와 방향으로 구성되고 개발되어야 한다. 셋째, 다문화 사회에 대응하기 위한 학교 교육과정의 내용은 즉흥적이고 일시적인 필요에 의한 프로그램 제공이 아니라 체계적인 틀을 갖춘 방향으로 개발되어야 한다. 이 연구를 통해 얻은 결과는 향후 다문화 사회에 대응하여 학교 교육과정을 개발하는 방안을 도출하는 데 시사점을 제공해 줄 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the direction of the school-based curriculum development matching up to multicultural society. In order to attain this purpose, this study reviewed the literature which relates to multicultural education, investigated the meaning of the multicultural society and the multicultural education, and then searched the changes from school-based curriculum in the present. Also analyzed the multicultural contents element which is presented in 7th and 2007 revised curriculum documents. The result for the search of the direction of the school-based curriculum development which confronts in the multicultural society could be arranged as follows : First, the direction of multicultural school-based curriculum development should be preferentially aimed at purposing not only identity of the minority race but diversity of culture. Second, reasonable and various contents which contain general perspectives of the minority and cultural community should be selected. Thirdly, to provide selected contents efficiently, equal opportunity should be given through curriculum and extra-curriculum and utilize only the integration methods. Fourth, in evaluating aims, contents and methods should be consistent and systematic. Lastly, this process can provide the ground for the school-based curriculum development which confronts in the multicultural society positive through only the correlation and understanding as well as the institutional support. Through this research process, suggestions for the direction of the multicultural school-based curriculum development could be presented as follows : First, the multicultural school-based curriculum should be developed for not a minority but all the various and different students. Second, the multicultural school-based curriculum should be developed and constituted toward the system and direction for realization of multi-education for not only aims, contents, methods, evaluations but various personal and material support. Thirdly, contents presented by the multicultural school-based curriculum should not provide an extemporaneous composed program but be developed to the direction with systematic structures. The result of this study can provide current and significant points to draw the plan of the school-based curriculum development which confronts in the multicultural society.
