국문 초록

최근 우리 사회에서 교육 양극화의 문제는 중요한 교육적 화두가 되고 있으며, 그 대표적인 예가 바로 학습부진아 문제일 것이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 대학생 예비교사들을 활용하여 수학 학습부진아 문제를 해결하는데 초점을 두고 있는 ‘대학생 지도교사제’의 현황을 분석하고, 그에 따른 수학 학습부진아 교육의 발전 방향을 이 프로그램에 참여한 예비교사들의 관점을 통해서 고찰해 보고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 그 결과 예비교사들은 수학 학습부진아 지도에 많은 관심이 있으나 교수 방법과 학습 자료 활용에 대한 이해 부족으로 인해서 수학 학습부진아를 지도하는데 어려움으로 느끼고 있는 것으로 드러났다. 또한 현행 교육대학교 교육과정이 실제 현장에서 수학 학습부진아를 지도하는데 연결성이 부족하다고 느끼는 것으로 드러났다. 그러나 수학 학습부진아를 직접 지도해 본 경험은 예비교사들의 교직관 형성에 매우 긍정적으로 작용하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 본 연구 결과는 교육대학교에서 예비교사들이 수학 학습부진아 지도와 관련된 지식을 습득할 수 있는 기회를 제공해야 할 뿐만 아니라, 예비교사들에게 적합한 수학 학습부진아 수업 모델 개발을 위한 노력이 필요함을 시사하고 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the present study is to suggest the implications for after-school learning disability programs jointly performed by a metropolitan office of education and Seoul National University of Education in 2006. The data were collected using a questionnaire about the program, and a total of 190 student teachers responded to the questionnaire. The results of this study indicated that student teachers have most difficulty in teaching underachievers with mathematics learning difficulties with respect to lacking of teaching methods and using instructional materials. In addition, it was shown that the curriculum of the elementary teacher education program is not well connected with teaching students with mathematics learning disabilities in practice. Finally, this study found that the majority of preservice elementary teachers\ perspective toward the teaching profession seems to be significantly influenced from their teaching experience in after-school learning disability programs. The findings of this study suggest that the mathematics learning disability programs supported by student teachers need to be systematically and qualitatively enhanced by focusing on teaching methods and instructional materials as well as by strengthening the connection with the preservice elementary teacher education program in the university.
