영문 초록

Humans experience changes with age so we sometimes are alienated from operating a new device or interface. For designing a device, characteristic of the old should be considered and applied not to make such alienation. A touch screen is recently applied to many information devices on the basis of its natural operation and easy application and will be more used. Therefore, characteristics of the old need to be reflected in terms of the operation of a touch screen. A touch screen is easy to operate, intuitive, and possible to expand the display area while it is somewhat hard to be recognized due to difficulties of exact operation and physically weak feedback. The problem is expected to occur when the old people use a touch screen. As we get older, tactile sensibility is lower so that the weak feedback of a touch screen can give the old inconvenience and they can make errors. In addition, various and complex operation methods, the old with lower operation ability will have more difficulties in operating a touch screen. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a basic study on design factors of touch screen interface, considering their characteristics for the elderly.
