웹소설에 나타난 ‘회귀와 환생’의 욕망코드

국문 초록

‘회귀’와 ‘환생’은 웹소설을 자주 찾는 이들이 향유하는 일종의 문화코드이다. 굳이 윤회설을 믿지 않아도 스마트 폰을 켜고 웹소설 플랫폼에 입장한다면 그 첫 회에 ‘죽었다가 다시 태어나는’ 간접적인 죽음과 부활을 실감나게 경험할 수 있다. 2019년 현재 웹소설 플랫폼 상 존재하는 수만 편의 웹소설 중 적어도 사분의 일 정도가 ‘환생’과 ‘회귀’의 모티프를 따르고 있다. ‘죽음’은 이제 독자들에게는 새로운 판타지 세계로 통하는 입문절차이고 작가들에게는 웹소설에서 꼭 써야 하는 새로운 플롯 장치로 나타나고 있다. 이런 독특한 스타일의 웹소설 플롯 구조는 ‘죽음’과 ‘상실’, ‘삶’에 대한 일반의 인식까지 뒤흔들고 있다. 웹소설에서 폭발하고 있는 무의식적 욕망의 변화는 이 시대 사람들의 자기정체성과 경험, 앎에 대한 추구, 좌절의 모습을 보여주고 있다. 이 연구는 시대적 욕망의 분출구이자 새로운 문학체계 미디어로 등장하고 있는 한국 웹소설의 문화코드인 ‘회귀’와 ‘환생’을 통해서 이 시대 사람들의 무의식적 욕망을 들여다보았다.

영문 초록

‘Regression’ and ‘reincarnation’ are a kind of cultural code enjoyed by web-novels seekers. Even if you don’t believe in reincarnation, if you turn on your smart phone and enter the web-novel platform, you can experience the indirect death and resurrection of the “dead and reborn” in the first episode. At least a quarter of the tens of thousands of novels follow the motifs of reincarnation and regression. ‘Death’ is now an introductory procedure for readers into a new fantasy world and a new plotting device for writers to use in web fiction. This unique style of web novel plot structure is shaking the public’s perception of death, loss, and life. The change of unconscious desire exploding in the web novel shows the self-identity and experience of people of this age, the pursuit of knowledge and frustration. This study analyzed the unconscious desires of people in this era through the regression and reincarnation, the cultural codes of Korean Web novels, which emerged as a new literary system media and an outlet for the desires of the times.
