국문 초록

본 연구는 스토리텔링 플랫폼을 활용한 초등학생 협동 디지털 영어 스토리 창작 학습 모형을 개발하고 그 효과를 분석하였다. 연구자는 참여교사와 함께 스토리텔링 플랫폼과 수업 자료를 개발한 후 방과 후 학교 영어 프로그램에 참여한 초등 5-6학년 학생에게 학습 모형을 적용하였다. 16주 동안 영어수업에 참여한 29명 학생들의 영어 의사소통능력 향상과 학습태도의 변화를 분석하고자 양적인 접근과 질적인 방법을 사용하였다. 수업태도의 변화는 설문지를 통해 사전과 사후로 실시하였고, 영어 능력에 대한 평가는 진단 테스트와 사후 테스트를 비교하였다. 연구자는 수업 참여관찰을 통해 학생들의 영어 이야기 창작과정을 기록하였으며 학생들의 협동적 동영상 제작 과정을 분석하였다. 학습자 협동기반 디지털 영어 스토리 창작 모형 개발과정에서 연구자는 시작부터 원어민 영어교사, 한국인 교사와 면담을 실시하였으며 수업에 참여한 학생들의 면담은 학기말에 실시하였다. 연구 결과 학생들의 의사소통 능력은 말하기를 제외하고 읽기, 쓰기, 듣기 부문이 향상되었다. 학습태도는 사전보다 사후 학습태도가 긍정적으로 나타났으며, 스토리텔링 플랫폼과 디지털 영상 소프트웨어를 활용해 동화 창작을 한 후 학생들의 학습 동기가 더 상승한 것으로 나타났다. 디지털 플랫폼을 활용한 새로운 이야기 영상 제작 과정을 통해 학생들은 협동 적 창의성을 경험 하면서 영어 스토리 만들기에 대한 부담감이 줄어드는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구는 디지털에 익숙한 세대들에게 디지털 미디어를 활용하여 효과적인 교수·학습 방법론을 제시하고자 하는 연구자들에게 몇 가지 교육적 제안을 할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to develop a learning model of creative students’ collaborative English stories in primary English classroom through employing a digital storytelling platform. The collaborative digital storytelling learning model was implemented to the 29 elementary students who enrolled in an after-school English program for 16 weeks. The researcher utilized a storytelling platform with the two teachers creating teaching materials to improve the students’ language skills and learning attitudes. To analyze the effects of the learning model, the researcher collected multiple data including pre-post English ability tests, students’ videos, classroom observations, student surveys, student interviews and teacher interviews. The results showed that the learning of creating digital English story was effective to improve students’ language competence especially for their reading and writing skills. By utilizing the digital storytelling platform, the students enhanced not only their learning attitudes, but also expanded their collaborative creativity through making their own English story in a group. Creating English stories with the group collaboration reduced the burden for creativity and enhanced their learning attitudes. By exploring the learning model, this study suggested the educational implications for those who want to develop a digital storytelling language learning approach for the digital generation of Korean primary schools
