대학 교양과목에서의 집단탐구 수행 과정 및 인식

국문 초록

대학 인문·사회 영역 교양과목에서 많이 활용되고 있는 집단탐구는 수업시간을 중심으로 진행되는 초·중·고에서의 집단탐구와 달리 최종 발표 외에는 주로 과제로 진행되어 실제 학생의 수행 과정을 교수자가 파악하기 어렵다. 그러나 대학에서도 집단탐구를 효과적으로 시행하기 위해서는 학생의 실제 수행 과정에 대한 이해가 선행되어야 하기에, 본 연구에서는 인문·사회 교양과목에서의 집단탐구에 초점을 맞추어 학생들의 수행 과정 및 인식을 조사하였다. 이를 위해 경기도 소재 A 대학 교양과목으로 개설된 ‘인간과 교육’강좌의 집단탐구에 참여한 학생을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하여 연구 자료를 수집, 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 집단탐구는 학생들에게‘자신의 관심 주제에 기반한 흥미롭고 의미있는 학습’,‘모두가 참여할 수 있는 팀 프로젝트’,‘의견과 논의가 중요한 활동’으로 인식되었다. 팀별 차이는 있으나 집단탐구는 대체로 여섯 과정을 통해 수행되었으며, 수행 과정에는 과제 요인, 팀 요인, 개인 요인 등이 영향을 끼친 것으로 학생들은 인식하였다. 연구 결과를 토대로 효과적인 집단탐구를 위한 수행 과정에 대한 안내의 필요성과 구체적 방안을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

Unlike group investigation(GI) used in elementary, middle, and high schools that is mostly carried out during class, the group investigation widely used for humanities and social sciences based general education courses in universities is difficult for an instructor to grasp the process his or her students undergo, because they are given assignments except for the final presentation. This study looked at the process and perception of students focusing on the group investigation used in humanities and social sciences based general education courses. It did this in order to gain an understanding of the actual process which students undergo, and this process should be done in advance, in order to effectively use the group investigation in universities. To this end, a survey and in-depth interviews were conducted with students in the Human and Education course, one of the general education courses in a University located in Gyeonggi Province who had agreed to take part in the group investigation. According to the findings of the study, the students perceived the group investigation to be interesting and meaningful learning in line with their interests , a team project where everyone can participate , and an activity where opinion-sharing and discussion are important . There were differences between teams, but the group investigation was carried out in six stages with factors such as task type, characteristics of a team, and an individual influencing the process. Lastly, this study, on the basis of the findings, proposes guided instruction on strategies needed in order to carry out an effective group investigation.
