영문 초록

The purposes of this paper is to examine the methods of regionalization of the metropolitan area for metropolitan planning. This paper analyzes the methods of regionalization and the characteristics of each model of the regionalization. This paper approaches this problem in terms of the central place model and suburbanization model, In the analysis, the central place model is categorized by the fully nested model and unfully nested model. This paper argues that the nested model indicates the hierarchical structure, large scope, non-inclusiveness of the administrative area of the local governments in the regionalization. Also, it is argued that the non-nested model is characterized by the ambiguousness of the metropolitan regionalization, large scope and non-inclusiveness of the administrative area of local governments like the fully nested model. Also, it is argued that the suburbanization model indicates the difficulty in selecting the indicators of urbanization of the periphery, small scope, and inclusiveness of the local governments. Based on the analysis of the characteristics of metropolitan regionalization, this paper discusses the rational ways of the regionalization and planning of the metropolitan area.
