영문 초록

This study deals with the effectiveness questions on the traffic management strategies of arterial roads. The objective is to analyze the effectiveness of the strategies applied to the arterial roads of Cheongju. In pursuing the above, this study gives the particular attentions to the 4 strategies which are the access control, left-turn prohibit, one-way system and underpass or overpass road. In case study, the above strategies are simulated to Heungduk-Ro and Sajik-Ro of Cheongju. Analysis methods are separated into macro analysis of the overall network and micro analysis of arterial roads and intersections. To analyze the effectiveness, this study uses MINUTP and TRANSYT-7F programs. The overall network is analyzed by the VHT, and the arterial roads and intersections are analyzed by the average travel speed. Main results are the followings. Underpass or overpass is evaluated as the most effective strategy for the overall network and all intersections applied, and the followings are in the order of left-turn prohibit with 2 phase signal control, one-way system, left-turn prohibit with 3 phase signal control and access control. However, in the case of two arterial roads which the strategies are directly applied, one-way system is more effective than the left-turn prohibit with 2 phase signal control.
