영문 초록

With the rapid growth of national economies, the volume of freight transportation in Korea has dramatically increased over the last thirty years. The share of the costs to the gross domestic product has reached 16.9% in 1996. Therefore, the reduction of logistics costs becomes one of main objectives for the national government as well as for each individual firm. This study attempts to analyze the regional economic impacts by the construction and operation of logistics facilities, employing the structural path analysis and the price-endogenous model of the Social Accounting Matrix for Kyongsangnam-Do. This study finds out that global influence effect induced by the logistics facilities in Kyongnam is calculated to be 2.58 and main influence effects take place in chemical/coal/petroleum industry, primary metal products industry and fabricated metal/machinery industry. Secondly, for influence effect on tax revenues, a direct effects by construction industry is smaller than an indirect effects by other industries. Thirdly, the influence effect of construction industry on hosehold income is the third biggest of 19 industry sectors. By estimating Gini coefficient, construction of the logistics facilities contributes to distribution equity. Fourthly, costs incurred by logistics facilities operation will induce the reduction of price index by 0.38 percent.
