영문 초록

This study analyses the level of environmental pollution of Chongju City, comparing with that of larger cities. Chongju city`s air quality has become worse lately approaching larger cities` level, and water quality of Daechong Reservoir is seriously polluted and eutrophicated that secondary or tertiary treatment is necessary to make drinkable. Solid waste generation rate has become 2.05㎏/day/capita, nearly, larger cities` level. For abatement of Chongju City`s environmental pollution, total emission regulation system is to be adopted for management of air, and water pollution above all ; especially Emission Density Zoning for air pollution. Recycling, composting, combustion furnace plant, industrial solid waste treatment plant are indispensable for solid waste management. As long-term and comprehensive environmetal management alternatives, this study suggests concept of Ecopolis which is based upon ESSD(Environmentally Sound and Sustainable Development), applied at Kassel(Deutchland), Buggusu City(Japan) etc. Thus, Chongju Region should be regared as one ecosystem, then development and, pollution problem be regulated base upon present land use and environmental carrying capacity.
