영문 초록

Kara is used at the end of a sentence, and there are two categories depending on scenes: the ones where kara presents a reason for the content of the preceding expressions, and the ones where such presentation does not occur. The latter case is more implicational than the former. The former lacks such implications, and it exists in form of “X-kara Y.” In scenes where the elided second-clause is implicated, various meanings emerge, and they are classified into: “suggest, request, command, refusal, licensing, desire, communication of intention, communication of act.” Further, depending on the characteristics of content, these are divided into the cases where the speaker addresses the hearer and the cases where such addressing does not occur. On the other hand, kara corresponds to nika in Korean. This expression also displays the meanings of reason, but when it is used as a final particle, a sharp contrast is found between the two expressions in Japanese and Korea. In particular, while a parallelism finds itself when these expressions convey the meaning of reason, the Korean counterpart mostly exhibits a unique property in the other respects
