노인을 위한 아웃리치(Out Reach) 미술교육 프로그램 개발 - 국내외 미술관에서의 아웃리치 프로그램 사례에 기초하여 -

국문 초록

현대 사회에서 과학과 기술의 발달은 고령화 사회를 초래하면서, ‘길어진 노년기를 어떻게 보내야 하는지’에 대한 고민으로 연결되었다. 이제 노인에게 단순히 식사를 제공하고, 의료서비스를 지원하는 것으로 그치는 것이 아니라 그들의 본질적인 요구, 즉 학습의 요구를 충족시킬 수 있는 방향으로 나아가야 할 시점이다. 기존의 미술관 교육프로그램은 노인보다는 주로 어린이나 청소년을 대상으로 한 경우가 대부분이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 노인의 특성과 학습요구를 파악하여, 노인을 위한 미술관 아웃리치 교육 프로그램 두 가지를 제안하고자 한다. 먼저 ‘이동형 교육 프로그램’은 노인들에게 아트버스가 찾아가 언제 어디서나 미술관 교육을 제공한다. 특히 이 프로그램은 노인들이 단기기억보다 장기기억을 더 잘 기억해낸다는 것에 초점을 맞추어 오래된 과거를 회상할 수 있는 프로그램으로 구성되었다. 노인에게 근대미술작품 감상의 기회를 주고, 떠올려진 경험이나 연상된 이미지를 새롭고, 낯선 재료나 방법으로 표현하도록 하여 다양한 미적체험을 할 수 있도록 했다. 다음으로 ‘노인센터와 연계한 전문가 교육프로그램’은 대학생과 노인들이 함께 하는 도슨트 양성 프로그램으로 노인과 대학생이 함께 팀을 이루어 협동학습을 하면서 세대 간의 교류와 화합을 도모하고자 한 것이다. 아웃리치 프로그램은 지역적·경제적·신체적 이유로 그동안 미술관 교육에 잘 참여하지 못했던 소외계층 노인들을 모두 아우르는 적극적인 의미의 교육으로 지역사회에서 노인들의 ‘소통의 장(場)’을 제공한다. 이 프로그램들은 노인들의 자기표현과 지적자극 그리고 소통을 지향점으로 하여, 궁극적으로는 그들의 ‘삶의 질(quality of life)’을 향상시키는데 목적을 두고 있다.

영문 초록

With the aging society brought about by the advancement of science and technology, the question of ‘how to spend one’s elongated senior life’ is becoming increasingly important. Welfare for the aged that has traditionally been focused on providing food and medication should further aim to satisfy one of their fundamental needs; the need to learn. Unfortunately, existing educational programs in art museums are mostly designed for children and teenagers. This study examines the traits and educational needs of the seniors, and suggests two art-related educational outreach programs for the elders. First of all, “Movable education program” provide art-related education to elderly people by art bus. This program especially focused on that elder people can recall the long-term memory easier, so make them remembrance of the past. Also, it can be a significant learning experience that stimulates sight and touch of elderly by express new, unfamiliar materials or ways. Secondly, “Professional training program connected with senior center” is a program that fosters the docent with senior citizen and university student. By this program, the elders teamed up with student can cooperatively learn together and try to promote the harmony and the communication between the generations. These programs are an active form of education that includes the participation of the alienated senior citizens who have been neglected in art museum’s educational programs for regional, economic, and physical reasons. Providing a place for communication, this program encourages self expression, intellectual stimulation, and communication of senior citizens, while the ultimate goal is to enhance their overall quality of life.
