국문 초록

중국의 古典에서는 對句와 함께 脚韻을 사용한 예가 대단히 많이 발견된다. 물론 詩歌 등의 韻文은 말할 필요도 없지만, 일반 산문에서도 押韻을 한 경우가 적지 않게 발견된다. 이는 상고시대부터의 전통으로서 당연히 중국어의 언어학적인 특성에서 起因한 것임은 말할 나위도 없다. 그러한 압운의 예가 가장 많이 보이는 대표적인 고전이 『易經』과 『老子』이다. 이러한 고전 속의 用韻의 예는 단지 고대 音韻 연구의 중요한 자료가 될 뿐 아니라 이를 통해서 고전 속의 잘못된 글자를 바로잡는 관건이 될 수 있어서 고전을 올바로 해독하는 데에 큰 도움을 주기도 한다. 따라서 이 방면의 연구가 고전 해독의 가장 중요한 기초 작업의 일환이 된다고 할 수 있다. 이와 함께 고전 속에는 과거로부터 전래되어 오는 慣用語인 諺語가 빈번히 인용되고 있는데, 이러한 말들은 대체로 押韻된 것이 많으며, 이 用韻의 사례를 校勘 작업에 활용할 수도 있다. 이에 兩者를 연계하여 그 언어학적 특징을 분석해 보는 작업도 고전을 보다 심도 있고 정확하게 해독하는 데에 一助할 수 있을 것이다. 이런 취지에서 본고는 이 양자의 양상을 분석, 정리하고, 나아가 이를 토대로 중요 고전 속의 몇 가지 잘못된 부분을 지적함으로써 고전 해독의 한 방법론을 제시하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Through Chinese classics, there plenty of examples of end rhymes and rhyming couplets are found. We could even find considerable rhymes from some general prose as well as from verse such as poetry. Needless to say, this phenomenon was a tradition passed down since the Chinese ancient era and of course came from Chinese linguistic attribute. I Ching(Book of Changes, 易經) and Laozi(Lao-Tzu, 老子) are the typical classics which contain many examples of such rhymes. The examples of rhymes found from those classics are not only valuable materials for phonology but contribute greatly to decode classics properly because they could be the key to the correction of wrong characters of classics. Therefore, it is truly said that a study in this field could be a part of very important groundwork for decoding of classics. In addition, some traditional idioms are cited frequently in classics and most of them are rhymed; we could utilize those cases of rhymes for comparison and contrast. It means that the analysis of the linguistic characteristics of both of the cases by connecting them together could contribute to in-depth and correct decoding of classics. With this intention, I planned to analyze and organize the aspects of both sides and–based on the analyzed and organized information-raise a methodology for decoding of classics by indicating some errors found from important classics.
