노인 이미지 연구 경향 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 1990년 이후 2015년까지 발표된 25편의 국내 노인 이미지 연구논문을 대상으로 체계적 문헌고찰 방법에 의해 연구경향을 분석한 것이다. 본 연구의 이론적 배경은 사회구성주의를 기반으로 하였다. 분석결과, 노인 이미지 연구의 주된 연구대상은 미디어(8편)와 비노년층(10편)이 많았으며 노인층 대상(7편)의 연구는 2009년부터 이루어졌다. 주된 연구방법으로는 양적연구(16편)가 많았으나 측정도구는 표준화되지 않았다. 주된 연구의 주제는 노인 이미지 자체, 노인이미지와 관계된 요인, 노인 이미지 개선 제안으로 분류되며, 주제영역 별로 해당논문의 연구결과를 총합하여 기술하였다. 대부분의 연구논문이 이론적 근거를 취하지 않았으며(20편), 사회구성주의 관점을 직접적인 이론적 근거로 한 논문 역시 없다. 다만 분석 대상 노인 이미지 연구들은 노인의 이미지를 객관적이며 동질적이기 보다 특정 시기, 사회적 및 계층적 맥락, 사회매체에 따라 달리 표상 되어 왔다는 사회구성주의적 관점이 암묵적으로 반영되고 있었다. 사회구성주의 시각에서 접근한 본 연구의 분석결과를 통해 향후 노인 이미지 연구에 있어 노인 개인수준에서의 질적 연구 및 정책적, 제도적, 사회적 담론을 포함한 거시적 수준에서의 노인 이미지 연구가 필요함을 발견하였다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed 25 research articles published between 1990 and 2015 by systematic review. Theoretical approach in this study is based on social constructionism. The results showed that main research subjects were media(8) and the young and middle aged people(10), and a part of researchers had been studying older people(7) since 2009. Major research methods were quantitative(16), but their measurements were not consistent. Regarding research topics, they were concerned about image itself of older people, factors related to image of older people, and suggestions for improving image of older people. Upon these three topic categories, sub-topics were analyzed in a descriptive synthesis. Theoretical backgrounds were absent among a majority of research(20), and none of them were directly based on social constructionism. They, however, had considered image as social artifacts: image of older people was neither objective nor homogeneous, but represented in various ways according to time, social and class context, and media. Finally, this study suggested that we need more qualitative studies addressing image of older people at individual level, and policy, institution, and social discourse analyses are to be done at social level in the future.
