淸代 《 女仙外史 》의 재조명

국문 초록

본 논문은 《 女仙外史 》 에 대한 기존의 연구가 청대 사회의 일반적인 이해에만 바탕을 둔 정치적, 역사적 알레고리의 관점에 집중됨으로 인해서 발생했던 몇 가지 문제점에서 출발해, 《 여선외사 》의 창작의도와 당시의 사회상황 및 작품의 실제 내용을 중심으로 《 여선외사 》를 재조명하고 있다. 제2장 제1절에서는 《 여선외사 》 가 反淸小說로 평가받는 원인을 살펴보 았다. 첫째, 작가 여웅은 明 왕조의 遺民이었고, 反淸 사상이 투철했던 부친의 영향을 받아淸 왕조의 科擧에 응시하지 않았으며, 관직도 거절했다. 둘째, 당새아가 이끄는 起義勤王軍의 행보가 반청조직의 행보와 유사하다는 점이다. 셋째, 《 여선외사 》 가 당시의 忌諱에 저촉되었다는 기록이 있다. 이 세 가지 요소로 인해 《 여선외사 》는 반청소설로 평가받았다. 제2 장 제2절에서는 《 여선외사 》 를 반청소설로 분류했을 때 발생하는 모순점에 대해 분석하였다. 첫째, 여웅은 청 왕조의 안정을 유지하기 위해 불철주야 노력했던 능력 있는 幕友였다. 둘 째, 《 여선외사 》는 청 왕조의 정식관리의 전폭적인 지지 하에 창작되었고 전파되었다. 셋째, 康熙 연간의 忌諱는 주로 淫詞小說에 집중되어 있다. 제3장에서 필자는《 여선외사 》의 창작 의도와 당시의 사회 상황 및 작품의 실제 내용에 집중해 《 여선외사 》를 분석해야 한다고 제 안하였다. 여웅은 《 여선외사 》 의 창작의도와 大義가 ‘褒忠殛叛’에 있음을 명백히 밝히고 있고, 이는 소설 내용의 분석을 통해서도 충분히 파악할 수 있다. 여웅이 연왕을 잔혹한 악인 으로 묘사한 것은, 청 왕조에 대한 반감에서 연유한 것이 아니라, 연왕이 죽음으로 내몬 建 文帝와 그를 끝까지 따랐던 충신들에 대한 연민이 반영된 것이다. 그럼에도 기존의 연구가《 여선외사 》를 대체로 반청소설로 독해한 것은 청 왕조의 특수성에 대한 일반적인 이해에서 기인한 것으로 보인다. 반청의 굴레에서 벗어나야 《 여선외사 》의 온전한 면모가 보인다.

영문 초록

Starting from a few problems arising from concentration of political and historical allegory of the previous studies on 《 NvxianWaishi 》 in general, the study suggests the necessity to analyze 《 NvxianWaishi 》 based on the actual contents of《 NvxianWaishi 》 .Chapter 2 (part 1) explores the reasons that 《 NvxianWaishi 》 is considered to be an ‘anti-Qing’ novel. First. the author Lvxiong was an adherent of the Ming Dynasty. Influenced by his clearly anti-Qing father, he did not attend the public official assignment examination in the Qing Dynasty and refused to take any public position. Second, there is a record stating that 《 NvxianWaishi 》 contained literary taboos at that time. Third, the novel provides traces of the Nan-Ming Dynasty. Summing up the three elements, researchers used to conclude 《 NvxianWaishi 》 to be an anti-Qing novel. This means that these researchers identified the war between the Prince of Yan and TangSaiEr to be a political and historical allegory of the conflict between the Qing Dynasty and the Nan-Ming Dynasty. Chapter 2 (part 1) also analyzes a few unsolved contradictions when 《 NvxianWaishi 》 is identified to be anti-Qing. First, Lvxiong belonged to Muyou, a personal assistant assigned for formal management of the dynasty, that strove to maintain stability of the Qing Dynasty. Second, 《 NvxianWaishi 》 was created and disseminated under full support of the Qing Dynasty. Third, literary taboos of the Emperor KangXi pertained mostly to obscene novels. In Chapter 3, the author claims that it is necessary to analyze 《 NvxianWaishi 》with a focus on its actual contents. Lvxiong clearly states that the intent and purpose of writing 《 NvxianWaishi 》 were to memorize the loyal ones and punish those who betrayed, which can be sufficiently confirmed by analyzing the novel. This means that the attempt of Lvxiong to describe the Prince of Yan as a cruel and vicious man did not arise from his antagonism against the Qing Dynasty but reflected his sympathy for the Emperor JianWen killed by the Prince of Yan and the officials remained loyal to the former until the end. Nevertheless, previous studies identified《NvxianWaishi 》 as an ‘anti-Qing novel’ mostly because of the specificities of the Qing Dynasty. However, the problems described in Chapter 2(part 1) can be sufficiently explored and the contradictions provided in Chapter 2(part 2) can also be avoided without attaching anti-Qing characteristics. This is why it is necessary focus more on the actual content of 《 NvxianWaishi 》 away from the previous political and historical allegories.
