영문 초록

The Water Margin(also known as All Men Are Brothers and Outlaws of the Marsh) so-called written by Shi Nai'an was republished as Ancient version of The Water Margin in 1985. In other words, The Water Margin originally issued in 1933 was revised and presented to the public, which sparked a lot of debate among researchers about the genuineness of the revised book. The debate mainly took place between Jiang Zugang who played a leading role in publishing Ancient version of The Water Margin and the researchers of The Water Margin. After all, the argument was settled by concluding that the rewritten book was not genuine. Through this example, we can see how deeply the concept of ‘述而不作(to transmit, but not to create)’, which Kungzi(孔子) remarked, is rooted in the Chinese.
