국문 초록

중국고전소설의 최고봉이라고 일컬어지는 《紅樓夢》은 동서고금을 막론하고 그 예를 찾아보기 어려울 만큼 후세 문학에 지대한 영향을 미쳤다. 특히 《紅樓夢》이 중국현대작가와 작품에 미친 영향은 가히 血緣關係에 있다고 할 만큼 밀접하다. 중국현대문학사를 記述하거나 작품을 비평하는 학자들이 이 점에 주목하고 있음은 물론이요, 작가 자신들이 직접 《紅樓夢》으로부터 많은 영향을 받았다고 밝히고 있기도 하다. 그러한 밀접한 영향관계로 인하여 몇몇 작가들의 작품은 ‘20세기의 紅樓夢’ㆍ‘民國紅樓夢’ㆍ‘現代紅樓夢’이라고 칭해지기도 한다. 본고에서는 《紅樓夢》과 중국현대소설의 계승관계 및 동질성에 관심을 기울여, 그 양상을 ‘소설 유형과의 관계’ㆍ‘소설 주제와의 관계’ㆍ‘서사기법과의 관계’라는 세 가지 측면에서 살펴보았다. ‘소설 유형과의 관계’에서는 가족소설이라는 유형상의 동질성에 관하여 살펴보았으며, ‘주제와의 관계’에서는 ‘反封建’ㆍ‘개성해방’ㆍ‘비극의식’으로 나누어 《紅樓夢》의 작가 조설근과 중국현대소설의 작가들 간의 공통된 작가의식ㆍ현실인식ㆍ지향점 등에 대하여 분석해 보았으며, ‘서사기법과의 관계’에서는 ‘구성’과 ‘인물묘사’에 있어서의 영향과 모방 등에 대하여 다루었다. 요컨대 본고는 시대를 초월하는 작가들의 공통된 문제의식, 계승과 발전, 모방과 創新등에 초점을 맞춰 논술하였다고 할 수 있으며, 본고의 논의를 통하여 중국현대소설과 《紅樓夢》간의 창작상의 연관관계가 어느 정도 究明될 수 있으리라 본다. 아울러 그 결과는 중국현대소설사와 紅學史라는 두 줄기 흐름을 심층적으로 이해하는 데 有效할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Recofnized as a masterpiece of ancient Chinese novels, A Dream of red Mansions, has exerted unprecedented influence on following generations. It’s influence on modern chinese novel and authors in particular is an intimately interwoven relationship. Researchers/scholars who describe or critique the history of modern chinese novel have focused on this relationship. Furthermore, many authors themselves have claimed that their works were greatly influenced by A Dream of red Mansions. Due to this intimate tie, some authors’ works have been referred to as ‘A Dream of red Mansions in the 20th century’, ‘A Dream of red Mansions during the period of Republic of China.’ or ‘Modern ADream of red Mansions.’This paper notes A Dream of red Mansions’s relationship with modern Chinese novels, its inheritance and homogeneity and examines those aspects in terms of its type, theme, and narrative technique. First I will focus on similarities commonly found in the type of family novels. Second, the themes of anti-feudalism, liberation of individuality, and consciousness of tragedy, and how they are analyzed in terms of authorial consciousness, recognition of reality, and their aiming direction by Cao, Xue-Qin, the author of A Dream of red Mansions and modern chinese novelists will be examined. Finally, A Dream of red Mansions’s influence on narrative technique and how modern authors’ imitate it in both construction and character description will be discussed. In conclusion, this paper examines the ahtuor homogeneity that exists regardless of time period in terms of problem recognition, inheritance and development, and imitation and creation, a discussion that will contribute to illuminating the interrelationship between A Dream of red Mansions and modern Chinese novels. As a result, it will ultimately help us understand two flows of history in modern Chinese novels and the history of Redology more in depth.
