국문 초록

박태원 소설에서의 골목과 이웃은 매우 중요한 의미화의 장치인데, 다수의 작품에서 지속적으로 등장하여 주목할 만한 의미항을 형성한다. 즉 박태원은 자신의 소설에서 골목이라는 공간과 그 속의 인정세태를 이웃이라는 관계 개념으로 형상화하고 있는 것이다. 이에 따라 일제강점기 하에 발표된 박태원 소설을 골목과 이웃이라는 코드로 읽어볼 필요가 있다. 태원 소설에서의 골목은 진정한 이웃을 만들어내고 이웃의 삶을 주조해 내는 형성적 힘을 지닌다. 박태원은 그에 대한 소설적 탐색의 시도 끝에 균형 잡힌 이웃 윤리와 골목의 정치성에 도달하였다. 식민지 도시 경성에 대한 치밀한 관심은 다양한 소설적 실험을 거쳐 행복한 삶에 대한 희망과 그 희망 이 좌절되는 비극적 현실에 대한 형상화로 귀결되는 성과를 낳았다. 골목 안에서 살아가는 사람들 사이에도 이웃이 성립되겠지만, 당시 그들을 바라보는 작가 박태원에게도 이웃은 역시 연민과 동정의 시선으로 다가왔다. 하지만 사람다운 삶의 가능성을 골목과 이웃에서 찾고자 했던 박태원은 비관적 인식에 도달할 수밖에 없었다. 그런 과정에서도 박태원은 골목과 이웃의 서사를 통해 자율적이면서도 공존하고 연대해야 하는 이웃의 생태학을 보여 주었다. 박태원 소설의 골목과 이웃 탐구는 당시 전체주의적 사회로 향하는 식민지 상황에 대한 미적 저항이라는 의미를 지닌다. 그런 점에서 박태원의 소설은 탈식민의 서사인 것이다.

영문 초록

The Alley in the neighborhood of Park Tae-Won’s novel is an very important device of signifying mode. Alley with neighbors forms a meaningful anti continue to emerge in a number of notable works. Depending on these issues, we need to read Park Tae-Won’s novels published under the Japanese occupation. Alley in the Park Tae-Won’s novel has a formative power to cast out the life of the neighborhood, creating a true neighborhood. Park Tae-Won has reached the ethics and politics of a neighboring alley in his novel. Meticulous attention to the colonial city Kyounsoeng had produced successful results in shaping of the hope and reality that hope is frustrated about the happiness through a variety of novel experiments. There are neighborhoods among peoples who live in there alleyes. Moreover, Park Tae-Won also approached them as a neighborhood through the eyes of compassion and sympathy. But Park Tae-Won, looking down the possibility of human life in the streets and neighbors, had to reach a pessimistic perception. Park Tae-Won, in his novel writing process, showed the ecology of neighborhood solidarity that must co-exist and yet autonomously through the narrative of neighborhoods. Park Tae-Won has the meaning of esthetic resistance to the colonial situation facing the then totalitarian society. In that sense, Park Tae-Won’s novels are the narrative of decolonization.
