영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to analyze the types and characteristics of residential facility for the homeless in developed countries focused on the surveys of United States, England, France and Japan. This study found four types of housing for the homeless. The first type was a 'general shelter' for the homeless with specialized spaces such as private, public and support service areas. The second type was 'rental housing' for the target users needed affordable social housing. The third type was 'utilization of existing building' for the users in temporary dwelling space in a short period of time. The fourth type was 'boarding house' for the runaway youths. This study shows that the development of various types of residential facility for the homeless will be considered on personal characteristics such as age, gender, healthy condition and will for rehabilitation. This study also shows that social affordable housing by industrialized housing for the homeless will be more ideal in shelters planning rather than relying on just a general shelter type in poor surroundings for its domestic application.
