The purpose of this study is to develop the fashion cultural products using folk paintings which express the Korean beauty and our ancestor's mode of life combined with fashion that young people tend to show individuality through. The methods of this study is done with literature analysis and carried out survey of favorable folk paintings targeting over 20 yrs young people. On the basis of survey results, fashion cultural products were planned and expressed by computer graphics using Illustrator CS5 and Photoshop CS5. The folk paintings were practical pictures reflecting desire of ordinary people, which were made for decorating life space or depending on folk customs by imitating the orthodox paintings. The reflected desire was 'Byeoksagubok(defeating devils and gaining fortune)', 'Bugwiyounghwa(wealth and prosperity)', 'Ipsinyangmyeong(rising in the world and gaining fame)', Mubyeongjangsu(long life without disease)'. The young people preferred to Bugwiyounghwa, Ipsinyangmyeong and have high preference to interesting, symbolical, modern, and unusual images. 'Morando(peonies picture)' of Bugwiyounghwa and 'Baekjeopdo(butterflies picture)' of Ipsinyangmyeong were applied with modern and symbolical concepts, unusual and interesting concepts were used to 'Hwajodo(flowers and birds picture)' of Bugwiyounghwa and 'Eobyeonseongryongdo(a dragon changed from a fish picture)' of Ipsinyangmyeong. Motives were applied to handkerchiefs, wallets, and backpacks, as a final stage 36 fashion cultural products were proposed, that were planned on the basis of young generation's preference. The fashion cultural products development using folk paintings that integrated with fashion made young people have a chance to approach the traditional culture easily.
