說 장르 규명을 위한 시론

국문 초록

최근 한문 산문의 說 갈래를 다루고 있는 연구들이 나오고 있다. 그간 한문학에서 다루지 않았거나 미흡하게 연구되었던 說의 문학적 가치와 장르 성향을 다루고 있어 주목할 만한 가치가 충분히 있음을 보여준다. 그러나 說 장르 속성을 수필이나 교술 장르, 우언적 양식ㆍ토의체 문학ㆍ단형서사제로 보는 연구에 미진한 점이 없다고 할 수 없다. 본고는 이 연구들을 살펴보고 보충할 점을 논하였다. 첫째, 說 작품에서 서사나 서정ㆍ의론이라는 다양한 성향이 포함될 수 있기에 '說'이라는 형태 분류를 기반으로 고찰해야 함을 중시했다. 둘째, 개별 작가의 특수성이나 시대별 문풍과 관련된 양상을 규명해야 하는 점을 강조했다. 셋째, 說 작품은 개별 작가가 지닌 사유 양식의 표현으로 보기에, 작가들의 역사적 존재방식이나 세계관과 밀접한 관련이 있음을 드러내었다. 넷째, 說 작품은 문학이 무엇인가라는 물음 속에서 발전되어 온 한문산문 장르의 하나로, 문학(文)과 도덕(道)간의 바른 인식을 바탕으로 지속되어 온 갈래임을 밝혔다. 이런 점이 바탕이 될 때 說 작품에서 나타나는 여러 장르 속성이나 기법의 복합성과 미학적 특성이 검출될 것이라 보았다. 다시 말해, 한문 산문문학의 갈래 체계를 위한 논리적 타당성을 강조하거나 규명하는 작업보다는 한문 산문 갈래 자체에 대한 탐구로서 說 작품 연구가 기본적으로 더욱 필요함을 제기하였다.

영문 초록

The most recent, researches on branches of Seol are carried out. They are literary values and dispositions of genres of Seol that they are not handeled or not handled enough in researches of Korean literatures. And that studies treat significations of Korean Literatures and the Histories of Korean Literatures. So they have noticeable values. I considered supplementations to examinations a genre of Seol. First. I have to study bases of forms of Seol, because in works of Seol there are descriptions, lyricisms and arguments and various dispositions. Second, I have to examine aspects related extraordinary natures of individual writers and styles of ages first of all. Third, it was had to reveal that works of Seol are expressions of each writers' idea and close relationship with writers' historical ways of an existence. Forth. I will clarify that works of Seol are proses developing in questions like "What are literatures?” and Seol is related with individual writers' genre and has been stared in right recognitions of literatures and moralities and is a continuous genre. With the basis of that, I will search complex natures of various forms and aesthetic and extraordinary natures. So I argued basically a necessity of studying works of Seol as researches about a phenomenon of a prose itself than researches about examining a logical validity for a system of a gem'e of proses of Korean literature.
