국문 초록

본고에서 필자는 경화사족 시조의 이해를 위한 논리적 근거들을 전제하면서 18세기 초엽 경화사족 시조에 나타나는 세계상과 미감을 고찰해 보고자 하였다. 이 과정에서 경화사족 시조에서 나타나는 시적 상상력을 음미하고 그것을 토대로 히는 미의식의 실체를 파악하고자 하였다. 그러므로 본고의 2장과 3장에서는 이러한 시조 작품의 이해를 위해서, 자연 인식과 일상의 풍경들을 중심으로 한 분석이 이루어졌다. 전통적인 성리학자들이 자연을 마주하는 태도에는 대자연이 가진 합리성에 대한 경이감이 늘 존재하고 있었다. 그러나 18세기 초엽 경화사족 작품에서 드러나는 시적 자아와 자연과의 조우는 극히 개인적인 완상의 일이었다. 주관적, 감각적인 시적 자아는 자신의 오관으로 느끼는 자연의 아름다움을 즐기고 그 미감의 순간을 표현한다. 그리고 그들은 자연을 현실과 대립되는 공간이 아니라 일상의 연속선상에 놓여 있는 곳으로 받아들였다. 그러므로 작품 속에서 시적 화자는 뭔가 대립되는 두 세계나 가치 사이에서 내면적인 갈등을 겪거나 그것으로 인한 긴장 상태에 놓여 있지 않다. 이 경우에 시적 화자는 자족적이며 시화하는 대상을 즐기기는 하지만 파탈하고 유흥적인 방종의 상태로 가지는 않는다. 시적 화자가 느끼는 미감은 고아하고 평화롭다. 이러한 이념적인 측면의 약화는 개인적인 감정의 표현을 자연스럽게 받아들이게 하였고, 시조 작자층의 외연을 확대하게 된 계기가 된다. 이것은 결국 이 시기 경화사족의 시조가 서울에서 불려진 노래로서 사대부적 계층성만을 강조하고 있지 않음을 보여준다. 오히려 경화의 시조 향유 공간에서 시조의 창작이 계층적인 경계를 넘어서고 있는 것이다. 그러므로 이들의 시조는 연속되는 18세기 중, 후반의 광범위하고 뚜렷한 시조사적 변화를 추동할 수 있는 단서를 내재하고 있었다. 동시에 이것은 새로운 미의식의 변화를 각성하고 그것을 표현하려는 단계의 출발점으로 볼 수 있다. 작가의 상상력이 아름다움을 발견하고 창조하고 그것을 통해서 인간의 감성을 감동시키기 위해서는 필연적으로 전통의 경계를 넘어 나아갈 수밖에 없는 것이다.

영문 초록

In this paper, I intended to investigate the image of world and the sense of beauty which are well brought out in the sijo created by kyung hwa sajok(京華士族) in the early 18th century. From this process. I have appreciated the poetic imaginative power in their sijo works and tried to grasp the entity of aesthetic sense that accomplishes a poetic base of them. The traditional Confucian scholar felt a nature as the great wondering and recognized the harmony with people in it. But in sijo of the kyung hwa sa jok, a poetic self doesn't encounter the nature that it accompanies philosophical meaning. They just enjoyed the beauty of nature that they can see and feel it by their physical sense organs and was apt to find the words to describe how moving it was. Their life was not being put the condition where the actuality separates from the nature. The nature is not the place where it is opposed to the actuality but the space where it is continued to the real present life. If a kyung hwa sa jok. as a sijo poet. created a poem of sijo. there was the Impression of daily life that people who had lived at those times had. Therefore. they appeared with the poetic self which is noble and self-sufficient in sijo works. They didn't feel the necessity of creation of lyric for people's sensibility toward the enlightenment. and they didn't have any intention to educate and to persuade people morally by song and poet. But this attitude what kyung hwa sa jok had toward sijo was to be a chance to overcome the closing characteristic of Sijo as Sa Dae Bu(士大夫) art genre. The speculation which had integrated the content and the form of Sa Dae Bu's Sijo was Confucian idea. Sa Dae Bu in the previous generation intended to preserve their mind and to give the human society and the nature an order. while the fixed purpose above ethical layer became weak. the universal logic that the song must give a deep impression in humam being's heart might be emphasized. They thought that people could touch true feelings on this type of Sijo. Consequentlly the reason which people writes Sijo is not to the moral culture of mind but is to the excitement and the pleasant sensation. In the early 18th century, Kyung Hwa Sa Gok was going to escape from like this traditional sense of value.
