저소득층 조손가정 여성노인의 우울감과 관련 요인 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 저소득층 조손가정 여성노인의 우울정도와 이에 관련된 요소를 파악하고자 하는 목적을 하는 목적을 가졌으며, 특히 조손가족의 사적, 공적 지지망이 조모의 우울감에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 규명하는데 초점을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 육의표집으로 추출된 저소득층의 60세 이상 여성노인 96명을 연구대상으로 우울정도, 인구사회학적 배경, 손자녀 특성, 사회적 지지 등을 조사하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 Hudson의 GCS로 측정된 조손가정 여성노인의 우울점수는 평균 58.1로 매우 심각한 수준이었다. 우울의 정도가 심각하게 우려되는 35.0이넘는 비율은 92% 비율은 92%로 거의 모든 조물들의 우울정도가 매우 심각한 것으로 나타났다. 이원적 분석 결과 조모의 인구사회학적 배경 변수 중에서는 조모의 건강상태만의 우울감과 유의미한 상관관 계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며 건강이 나를수록 우울정도가 유의미하게 높았다. 손자녀 관련 변수 중에서는 양육을 맡게 된 것에 조모의 불만이 클수록, 손자녀와의 관계에 불만이 클수록 유의미하게 우울정도가 높았다. 사회적 가지 관련 변수 중에서는 사적 지지망 크기기 작은수록, 의논상대가 없는 경우 유의미하게 우울정도가 높았다. 한편 민간기관과 정부기관으로부터의 지원인 공적 지지망 크기는 조모의 우울감에 유의미한 상관관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 다중분석결과 조모의 우울정도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타난 변수는 양육만족도, 건강상태, 사적 지지망 크기였으며, 이 세 변수들 우울감의 변량 중 45.3%를 설명하고 있다. 따라서 양육을 맡게 된 것에 불만이 많은, 건강상태가 나쁜, 사적 지지망이 양적으로 빈약한 조모들이 정신건강 증진을 위한 서비스나 프로그램의 일차적 대상이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 연구결과를 근거로 저소득 총 여성노인의 정신건강을 증진시키기 위한 서비스 및 프로그램 개발과 확대를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the level of depression in low income grandmothers raising grandchildren in parent-absent households and its related factors. For this purpose , the survey date were collected from 96 grandmother kinship care providers. The study generated several findings. First, grandmothers' mean score of depression measured by Hudson's Generalized Contentment Scale(GCS) was 58.1 what suggests very high level of depression. A remarkable 92% of the grandmothers were suffering from a severe depression. Second, the worse the physical health condition of grandmother, the higher the level of depression grandmother experienced. Also, grandmothers who reported less satisfaction with their parenting role and relationship with grandchildren tended to experience significantly higher level of depression. Third, grandmothers who reported smaller size of informal support network and the lack of consulting person tended to experience significantly higher level of depression. This study, however, found that the number of formal social services used by grandmothers was not associated with their depression. Fourth, stepwise multiple regression analysis showed that grandmother's level of satisfaction with their parenting role, physical health condition, and size of informal support network were statistically significant predictors of the level of depression. They accounted 45.3% of the variance of depression. Implications for social welfare services and programs to improve the mental health of low income grandmothers raising grandchildren were discussed.
