간호학과와 사회복지학과 학생들의 노인에 대한 지식과 태도

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 간호학과 및 사회복지학과 학생들의 노화와 관련된 지식 및 노인에 태도를 알아보고, 노인에 대한 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 알아보기 위함이다. 구조화된 설물지를 통해 간호학과 및 사회복지학과 학생 382명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였다. FAQ으로 측정한 대상자들의 노화과정에 대한 지식점수는 평균 정답률이 50.6%로 낮았다. 특히 심리적 영역과 가족 및 사회적인 영역에 대한 지식이 신체적/생리적 영역에 대한 지식에 비해 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 대상자들의 노인에 대한 태도점수는 중립적인 범위 내에 있었지만, 중립적인 범위를 벗어나 부정적인 태도 범위에 있는 문향의 수가 긍정적인 태도 범위에 있는 문항수 보다 더 많았다. 대상자들의 실습대상자 또는 졸업 후 취업분야로 노인인구집단에 대한 선호도는 다른 인구집단에 비해 매우 낮았다. 기대했던 것과는 달리 대상자들의 지식점수와 태도점수는 통계적으로 유의한 상관관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 대상자들의 노인에 대한 태도는 현재 동거노인과의 관계가 좋을수록 긍정적이었고, 이 변수가 대상자들의 노인에 대한 태도의 28%를 설명했다. 간호학과 및 사회복지학과 학생들이 노화에 대한 지식을 더 많이 습득하고, 노인과 긍정적인 관계를 경험할 수 있는 다양한 프로그램과 교과과정을 해야 할 것이다. 변화하는 노인 관련 환경에 대비하여 노인간호 및 노인복지 교육 및 연구가 지향해야 할 방향을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purposes of this study were to investigate knowledge and attitudes toward the elderly of college students in nursing and social welfare department and to identify the predictors of their attitudes toward the elderly. Date were collected from 382 students in two universities using structured questionnaires. The level of students' knowledge was relatively low. The average FAQ I score for students in this study was 50.6%. Moreover, the average scores of psychological dimension and family/ sociological dimension were lower than those of physical/physiological dimension. Although the average attitude score was in a neutral range, the number of items in a negative attitude score range were more than those of in a positive attitude score range. Students in nursing and social welfare department also reported a little preference for working with the elderly in practicum and for future job selection Contrary to expectation, the correlation between knowledge and attitude was not statistically significant. The students who currently have more close relationship with the elderly reported more positive attitude toward the elderly than their counterparts. The current relationship with the elderly explained 38% of the variance of the variance of the attitudes toward the elderly. There is a need to develop education programs and curriculum to increase the knowledge and positive attitudes and to apply these programs routinely to maintain and reinforce the students' knowledge and attitudes. The recommendations for the future directions for gerontological nursing and social welfare education and research to promote positive attitudes were presented.
