국문 초록

본 연구는 미국의 국립데이터를 사용하여 최근의 고령/중년 노동자 조기 은퇴 경향의 결정 요인을 성별 및 인종별로 나누어 분석을 시도하였다. 노동에 참여하지 않는 표본들의 경우 기존의 희귀 분석 대신 토빗(tobit) 모텔을 사용하여 정확한 추정값을 구하였으며 최종적으로 비선형 로지스틱 모델을 사용, 요인별 조기 은퇴에 관한 영향을 조사하였다. 그 결과, 사회인구학적 변인들이 통제된 후 낮은 보건 및 교육 수준, 추정시간 당 임금이 노인들이 조기은퇴상황을 고착화시키는 결정적 요인들로 드러났으며 이러한 상관관계는 인종별, 성별, 성인 자녀들의 수와 혼인상태와 밀접한 관계를 가지고 있음이 나타났다. 또한 최종모델에서 보건 및 교육 수준이 통제되었을 때, 시간 당 임금은 더 이상 남자노인들의 노동선택에 결정적 요인이 될 수 없음이 밝혀졌다. 본 연구의 결과는 자발적 요인(추정임금)보다는 구조적 요인 (교육과 건강)들에 의해 조기 은퇴 결정이 내려짐을 알려 주고 있다. 그러므로 중/고령 노동자들이 취업을 증진시키고 위해서는 직업 훈련과 보건에 대한 투자를 통한 투자를 통한 인적 자본 축적이 활성화되어야 할 것이다. 미성숙한 현 사회보험제도하에서 중/고령자들을 위한 취업기회보장이 절실히 요구되는 바, 인적 자본 투자를 근간으로 하는 이러한 접근은 특히 남자노인들을 위한 소득공제에 중요한 영향을 줄 것으로 예상된다.

영문 초록

This study examines the effects of health, education, and estimates wage on the of trend of early retirement among people aged 51 to 61 by race and gender. Using a national representative sample of over 12.500 older man and women in 7.702 households from the first wave of the HRS survey, I estimated logistic models for early withdrawal from employment. The result shows that, after demographic factors are controlled for, poor health, low education level, and estimated hourly wage are positively associated with early retirement for the respondents and the association varied by their race, gender, marital status, and number of children. This study concludes that in the full model, estimated hourly wage is a significant But when health and education variables are considered, the wage did not induce the older males to choose to work. However, for the female respondent, it is revealed that the predicted wage is still a significant factor.
