시조에 구현된 여성적 목소리의 표출 양상

국문 초록

본 논문은 시조에서 여성 화자가 등장하는 작품을 검토해, 그 장르속에서 그것이 어떻게 구현되고 있는가를 따지는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 시적 화자가 여성이라고 파악할 수 있는 작품뿐만 아니라 여성이라고 추정할 수 있는 작품을 '여성적 목소리'라는 용어로 묶어 살펴보았다. 대체로 여성화자가 등장하는 작품의 경우 그 주제는 애정의 문제에 집중되어 있었다. 시조가 주로 남성들에 의해 창작ㆍ향유되었기 때문에, 그 장르적 속성은 '남성적'인 측면이 강하다. 따라서 시조 속의 여성의 모습은 남성들에 의해 굴절된 시각에 의해 그려진 형상인 것이다. 때문에 시조작품들에서는 여성의 삶을 그대로 반영하기보다 '이러한 여성이 되어야 한다'는 당위 혹은 남성들의 희망을 제시하고 있을 따름이다.

영문 초록

This paper aims at reviewing some selections of Sijo with a female speaker and analysing how her voice is pictured in that specific genre. The criticism of the term "a feminine voice" deals with a poetic speaker who is either presumably or obviously female. The theme of love is usually a major issue in those works, where her partner Nim(thou) is already gone and she reveals her endless affection for him. The tendency is obvious especially when the works are compared with ocher selections with a male speaker. The nature of Sijo may as well be described as masculine since the genre was usually created and enjoyed by men. Therefore, it can be said that the image of women in Sijo was originally described by the biassed view of men. Though some women participated in creating and enjoying, their position was mostly a Kisaeng(a demimondaine), who played only an insignificant role in the extra-curricular activity of those high- class men. In creating the works of Sijo, the women could not help being aware of the men's view from the dominant class. The issue of ideology in the Yi Dynasty might have contributed to the miscreated image of women in Sijo. The relatively poor social position of women has its origin in the Confucian ideas of the Yi Dynasty. Therefore, the works of sijo only reveal the men's wish(Women should be like this or that) instead of describing women as who they really are.
