국문 초록

서사민요에서 화자의 시점은 작중인물, 취택된 주제 등과 일정한 관련성을 맺고 있는데, 시집살이와 같은 보편적 여성현실을 제재로 다룰 경우, 서술자의 시선은 작중인물와 근접하면서도 서술방식에서는 객관적 자세를 유지하여 억압적 현실을 비판적으로 그려낸다. 반면, 일상현실과 다소 먼 극적 흥미가 강한 유형들의 경우 양자는 상당한 거리를 보여주고 있다. 서사민요는 서사적 맥락은 최소화하면서도 장면의 재현을 최대화하려는 경향을 보인다. 이같은 공간적 관심과 현재형 서술시제는 밀접한 관련을 맺으면서 정서적 환기와 공감을 확장하고 공간적 재현양상을 현실화하는 효과를 보여준다. 현재형으로 재현되는 여성인물의 상황은 단절된 인간관계로 인한 극도의 소외상태로 나타난다. 이는 여성민요 향유자들의 의식세계와 관련성을 갖는 것으로 파악된다. 소외당한 주변인 의식으로 본 시집살이는 미래에의 전망이 부재하는 닫힌 세계로 인식될 수 있는데, 그 근원적인 문제는 소통불가능한 상황과 관련된 존재론적 단절감이다. 여성향유층은 서사민요를 통해 그들을 둘러싼 억압된 현실에 대한 실존적 자각을 표현한 것이다.

영문 초록

In folk ballards sung by women co meet their needs in their lives, women are found to be main characters and the speakers of those ballards are usually female. The representation of women in folk ballards deserves co be considered in that it expresses in women's viewpoint the reality of women's lives and the consciousness of women's place. In folk ballards the relations between the speakers's view and the characters shows these tendencies; in the type of folk ballards where the speakers are closely related with the characters, there was found women's common reality like si-jip-sal-ie, the hard marriage life under their mothers-in-law. There the narrative styles tended to be objective, focussing on criticizing the oppression in si-jip-sal-ie. On the other hand, in other type of folk ballards which described not women's daily lives but more dramatic materials, the speakers are distanced from the characters. Folk ballards usually tended to minimalize the narrative context in summary while maximizing the representation of scenes. This tendency reflects the interest in the present moment of space. The concern about space with the presentation, duration and intensity of the present moment is shown to be closely related with the present narrative tense, to enlarge the emotional evocation and sympathy, and to make the representation of space more lively. The women's situation represented in the present tense shows their extreme isolation caused by their reality cut off from human relationship. The si-jip-sal-ie seen from the consciousness of the alienated marginal presents the dosed world without any hope of future, which reflects the fundamental problem of their reality not permitting any communication with others. Women singers-audience who enjoyed folk ballards are found to express their existential consciousness of their oppressed reality. This consciousness of reality seems to be gained through the common experience of si-jip-sal-ie which most women had to go through in certain phases of their lives. In this consideration, folk ballards are thought to be the products of women's existential reflection.
