국문 초록

이 논문은 창의적 장신구 제작을 위한 금속공예의 여러 기법 중, 칠보기법의 교육과정 개선과 활성화 방안에 관한 연구이다. 금속공예의 한 기법인 칠보기법은 여러 장점을 지닌다. 물리적 성질이 우수하고, 금속의 표면 변색을 막아주며, 보석 대용으로 금전적 부담을 덜어준다. 또한 다양한 질감 추구와 예측하지 못한 우연한 효과 등 불과 유약, 그리고 금속이 어우러져 무한한 예술적 표현을 가능하게 한다. 교육과정 안에서 이 기법은 금속에 익숙한 학생들에게 색을 앞세운 특별한 느낌으로 다가갈 것이다. 그리고 불에 들어가기 전과 후의 두 단계로 나누어지는 작업 공정은 흥미를 주기에 충분하다. 실기과목으로 색채 훈련을 용이하게 하며, 빠른 결과 확인으로 학생들의 흥미 유발에 우수하다. 하지만 현실에서 전국의 많은 대학들이 '칠보기법'을 과목명으로 내세워 전공실기과목에 개설하는 경우가 드물었다. 많은 과목들이 '귀금속 세공'에 치우쳐 있었고, '귀금속 기법'으로 개설된 과목들은 모든 기법들을 광범위하게 포괄하고 있었다. 이 '기법' 과목들은 학기 또는 담당교수에 따라 선택적으로 교육하는 경우가 많았다. 칠보기법을 교육과정에 개설한 대학은 4년제보다 주로 2~3년제 대학이었다. 짧은 교육주기로 인해 크기가 작은 장신구를 집중 교육, 특화시킬 수 있어 이런 현상이 나타났다고 본다. 장신구에 색상과 가치 그리고 미적 표현을 위해 주로 보석이 사용되지만, 비용절감과 예술적 표현의 다양함을 위해 칠보가 색다른 역할을 할 수도 있기 때문이다. 이 점에서 장신구와 칠보교육은 밀접하게 연결될 수 있다. 또한 2~3년제 대학의 특성상 빠른 과정 진행이 이루어지고, 학생들은 졸업 후 취업 목적이 크기에 대다수 학생들의 작가적 태도와 작업에 관한 집중도가 떨어지는 경향이 있는데, 그 자리에서 소성된 결과를 확인할 수 있는 칠보기법은 학생들의 흥미를 유발시키는 좋은 도구가 될 수 있다고 본다. 이러한 현실을 근거로 칠보기법이 장신구 교육에서 독립된 전공 실기과목으로 확대 운영될 수 있도록, 칠보기법을 교과목으로 개설한 대학들의 교육방법을 조사, 분석하고 기법의 장점을 밝혀 효율적 방식의 칠보 교육방법을 연구해 보고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study is done to improve the education curriculum of enameling as a part of the metal craft for fabricating creative jewelry and to vitalize the enameling. The enameling features numerous advantages. It has excellent physical characteristic, prevents discoloration on the surface of metal and replaces precious jewelry with its affectability. It also provides pleasures of various texture and unexpected affects which results in unlimited artistic presentations blending metal with enamel in high heat. The enameling course within a curriculum for students who are familiar with metal craft will add special effects with enameling coloration. The enameling process has two stages, before and after the firing which adds interests to the whole processes. The process adds easy coloring practices and raises students' interest level by seeing the results in relatively short time. In reality, however, few universities included 'enameling' in the major practice course. Many courses were biased toward 'jewelry making' or 'silver work' and courses opened under the name of 'jewelry technique' included all techniques extensively. In most cases, these 'technique' courses were selectively taught depending on semesters or professors. The enameling curriculum was mostly opened in 2~3 year colleges rather than 4 year universities. This phenomenon is considered to have appeared because small jewelry can be intensively taught and specialized due to the short period of training. jewels are mainly used to add color, value and aesthetic expression to jewelry but enameling can play a unique role for cost reduction and diversity of artistic expression. In this regard, jewelry and enameling education can be closely related. Also, most of 2~3 year college students aim to get a job and therefore, they tend to pay less attention to work production and enameling that they can see firing results on the spot can be a good tool to arouse their interest. Based on this reality, we are to propose the effective way of enameling education method by revealing the advantages of the technique by investigating and analyzing the progress process of universities with enameling course to ensure that enameling can be expanded into and operated as an independent major practice course in jewelry education.
