장대천 산수화의 창신 과정을 통해 본 전통미술교육 방향

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 중국 근현대 작가인 장대천 산수화의 창신 과정을 통해 한국 전통미술교육의 방향모색을 위한 기초자료를 제공하는데 있다. 장대천은 중국 전통미술에 뿌리를 두고 새 로운 예술세계를 창출한 인물이다. 특히 그의 산수화에서는 전통과 현대의 조화, 동서양의 융합, 구상과 추상의 공존을 확인할 수 있다. 이는 장대천이 임화와 사생 그리고 창조의 창신 과정을 통해 창안한 발묵발채기법의 효과라고 할 수 있다. 고법에 대한 임화 과정은 선인들의 예술 정신과 다양한 화법을 체득하여 자신만의 자유로운 표현을 가능하게 하였으며, 돈황에서의 임화 체험은 중국인으로서의 자긍심과 전통문화의 계승 발전의 의무를 스스로 깨닫게 하였다. 자연에 대한 사생 과정은 면밀한 자연관찰을 통해 자연의 섭리를 깨닫고 광활한 마음을 지니게 함으로써 형상을 초월하여 화연의 깊이를 더하였다. 또한 30여 년간의 서구 생활을 통해 마주한 서양의 미술들은 빛에 의한 음영을 색으로 반영케 함으로써 동서양미술의 융합을 이루어내었다. 이러한 장대천의 창신 과정은 한국 전통미술교육의 방향을 설정하는데 있어 임화교육에 대한 재인식과 자연에 대한 사생, 다양한 문화체험의 필요성 등이 반영되어야함을 상기시킨다. 그러나 전통미술교육에서 더욱 중요한 것은 장대천이 중국전통문화에 대한 자긍심을 바탕으로 중국 예술의 새로운 전통을 마련하였던 것처럼, 한국인으로서의 자긍심 고취와 더불어 전통문화의 계승 발전이 후손으로서의 의무임을 스스로 깨닫게 하는데 있다고 본다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the direction of traditional art education and to provide basic information through the creative process of Chang Dai-chien(張大千 1899-1983), one of modern Chinese artists. His artworks were rooted in traditional Chinese painting and also created as new art world. Especially, His landscape paintings are a harmony of tradition and modern, a fusion of East and West, and a co-existence with the representation and the abstract. These characters were caused by his own techniques as splashed ink and color effects which were created through the results of replicating paintings, sketches from nature and innovation in his later years. The process of drawing techniques about ancestors's ones had made free expressions in his paintings and replicating experiences in Dunhuang had made him realized his self-esteem as Chinese and his own responsibilities of development of cultural heritages. By his experiences gained through sketching nature he realized the law of nature and deepened his artworks. In addition, he achieved a fusion of East and West by reflecting light and shadow on the screen through over 30 years living in the West. In exploring the direction of Korea traditional art education, his creative process of making art works makes us reminding to reflect a re-recognition about the replicating education, sketching nature and the needs of life experiences. However, more important thing is to realize our duties to the succession and the development of our traditional culture with inspiring prides as Korean, like that Chang Dai-chien has made the new Chinese art tradition based on the pride for the Chinese traditional culture.
