대학 입학사정관전형 지원 계획과 사교육 수요 관계 분석

국문 초록

이 연구는 대학 입학사정관 전형 지원 계획과 사교육 수요의 관계를 실증적으로 확인하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 2010년 한국교육종단연구 6차년도 자료를 활용하여 분석한 결과, 입학사정관 전형 지원 계획이 있는 고등학교 3학년 학생들은 계획이 없는 학생에 비하여 사교육 수요가 낮았다. 그러나, 로짓모형과 토빗모형을 활용하여 분석한 결과, 사교육에 영향을 미치는 가정배경, 개인특성, 학교특성 변인을 모두 통제한 이후에는 입학사정관 전형 지원 계획 변인의 통계적 유의성이 사라짐으로써, 입학사정관 전형 지원 계획이 없는 학생에 비하여 사교육 참여율과 사교육비 지출액이 통계적으로 유의하게 낮지 않은 것으로 밝혀졌다. 추가적으로 경향점수매칭 모형을 활용하여 선택편의를 보정한 후 사교육 수요를 살펴본 결과, 입학사정관전형 지원계획이 있는 집단이 사교육 수요가 낮지만 Kernel 매칭모형을 제외하고는 통계적 유의성이 없었다. 결론적으로 입학사정관제와 사교육 수요가 부적인 상관관계에 있으나 입학사정관제가 사교육 수요 증감에는 별다른 영향을 미치지 않음을 알 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between college admission officers system and private tutoring needs among senior high school students who are planning to advance to higher education institutions. Using the 6th wave of Korean Education Longitudinal Study(KELS) administered in 2010, the study found that those who are planning to apply for admission officers system had lower private tutoring needs than those who are not. However, after controlling for family backgrounds, student characteristics, and school characteristics variables which are associated with private tutoring needs, those who have a plan to apply for admission officers system did not have statistically significant lower private tutoring needs. Even after correcting for selectivity bias using propensity score matching, those who plan to apply for admission officers system did not have statistically significant lower private tutoring needs except for Kernel matching methods. In conclusion, admission officers system is negatively associated with private tutoring needs, but it does not have a statistically significant effect on private tutoring needs.
