국문 초록

이 논문은 다음 세 가지 사항을 중점적으로 다룬다. 첫째, 역사주의라는 다양하고 복잡한 교설을 정리하기 위해 역사주의를 두 유형으로 정형화한다. 하나는 역사개성주의이고, 다른 하나는 역사법칙 주의이다. 역사개성주의는 전통적인 독일의 역사주의이고, 역사법칙주의는 칼 포퍼가 정형화한 역사주의이다. 역사주의의 의미를 좀 더 간결하면서도 일반화하기 위해 나는 〈역사성〉을 가장 핵섬적인 개념으로 사용했다. 우리가 여러 종류의 역사주의를 이야기한다 해도 모두가 역사성이라는 하나의 기본 개념 믿에 붉을 수 있기 때문이다. 둘째, 두 유형의 역사주의가 갖고 있는 문제점을 논의한다. 역사개성주의에서는 역사적 상대주의와 일반적 구조의 간과, 반설명적 논리, 민주주의이념의 좌절 등이 논의되고, 역사법칙주의에서는 사회적 전체론, 역사적 결정론, 정치적 전체주의 등이 지적된다. 셋째, 역사개성주의와 역사법칙주의를 현대 인식론의 관점에서 재구성하고 비판한다. 이런 과정에서 역사개성주의는 인식론적 닫힌체계를 함축하며, 역사법적주의는 법칙을 오해했음을 밝힌다. 닫힌체계의 인식론은 의식의 언어구속성 논제와 통약불가능성 논제를 통해 설명되며, 법칙에 대한 논의는 존재진술과 비존새진술의 구별을 통해 진행된다.

영문 초록

This paper concentrates on the following three subjects. First, the doctrine of historicity is classified into two types: the doctrine of historical individuality(historism) and the doctrine of historical law(historicism). This classification is necessary to clarify the confusion on the doctrine of historicity. Historism is the traditional historical doctrine supported by Ranke and Meinecke: historicism is a doctrine formulated by Karl Popper. Second, historism and historicism are reconstructed from a modern epistemological perspective. I sugest that the historism implies the epistemology of historically closed system. I atempt to explain the historically closed system through linguistic determinism and paradigm theory, and I also reconstruct the historical law by scientific laws. Third, two types are critically reviwed. Historism is investigated focusing on the linguistic dependence of consciousness and incommensurability. Historical law is examined based on existence/non-existence statements and basic/ supervenience laws.
