『동사강목』의 편찬 배경과 강목체 기년

국문 초록

이 글은 안정복이 성호학과 문인들과 주고받은 편지에서 『동사강목』 편찬 동기와 서술내용의 주요 논쟁점을 정리하여 성호학과의 동사에 대한 지적 풍토를 검토하였다. 안정복의 『동사강목』 편찬은 철저한 문헌고증에 의한 역사서술과 더불어 단군-기자-마한-삼국-통일신라-고려로 이어지는 중국과 비견되는 동사를 통사로 된 강목체 역사서 즉 동사에서의 정통과 포폄을 엄정히 하여 후대에 교훈을 주는 역사서술이 필요하다는 자각에서 비롯되였다. 그리고 성호 이익의 적극적인 지원과 검토가 『동사강목』의 편찬에 큰 동력이 되였으며, 그 결과 그의 역사관이 많이 반영되였다. 강목체 역사서술에 대하여는 아직까지 학계의 연구 성과가 미진하다. 본고에서는 강목체 기년법이 『동사강목』에 어떻게 구현되였는가는 설명하기 위하여 『통감강목』 범례의 세년 조에 규정한 기년법을 소개하였다. 그리고 『동사강목』의 기년체계의 개요를 서술하면서 『동국통감』. 『동사회강』 등 주요 역사서와는 어떤 차이점이 있는 지를 비교하였다.

영문 초록

This thesis examines the Seongho(星湖, 李瀷 1681 ~1763) school’s intellectual atmosphere of Dongsa(東史- Korean History) by arrangement of the letters, which An Jeongbok(安鼎福, 1712~1791) had been giving and taking between Seongho school with him, related on compiling background of “Dongsa Gangmu” and disputed issues in the Dongsa. The conclusion of this reserch are as follows: 1. The compiling background of “Dongsa Gangmu” began by the consciousness that Donga should be written by verification of the historical fact and gangmok style historiography which is a moral to coming generation. 2. “Dongsa Gangmu” had adopted the legitimate dynasty(正統論) of Dongsa i.e. the inheritance of Dangun Chosun - Kija Chosun - Mahan - three Kingdoms - unified Sila - Korea as being comparable with Chinese history. 3. An Jeongbok could never have written “Dongsa Gangmu” without the encouragement and reviews of Seongho. As a result, Seongho’s historical concept had a greate influence on his book. The study of the historiographical method of Zizhi tongjian gangmu is not entirely satisfactory. Therefore this thesis introduces the Gangmok Style of Chronologies-a 60-year cycle Chinese calendar system(干支) and Chinese Emperor Era name(年號)［歲年］-is one of the 19 topics of Historiographical Methods of “Zizhi Tongjian Gangmu”. And I summary the synopsis of gangmok style of Chronologies of “Dongsa Gangmu” to determine its influence. In Addition I undertake the study of the similarities and differences of gangmok style of Chronologies of between other Dongsas such as “Dungguktonggam(東國通鑑)”, “Dongsahoegang(東史會綱) etc.
