국문 초록

전각은 印材에 문자나 肖形을 새기거나 주조하여 다양한 용도로 사용하였던 예술장르로, 원시사회에서는 陶器에 장인의 人名이나 기하학적인 문양 등을 찍거나 새기면서 실용적인 의미로 사용되다가, 국가 체계가 갖추어진 三代이후에는 신분을 증빙하기 위한 信標의 상징이 되어 官.私印으로 쓰였으며, 더 나아가 장식용 및 呪術的인 의미로 사용되었다. 그러나 이 당시의 전각은 명서가가 印文을 쓰고, 장인이 金.銀.銅.玉.象牙 등에 새기어 유형별로 시대적 특징을 나타내다가, 元末에 석인재의 개발로 문인들이 스스로 印文을 쓰고 自刻을 하게 되면서 문인정신에 입각한 전각세계가 구축되어 寫意 전각의 영역이 확대되었고, 淸代에 이르러서는 독자적인 예술체계를 갖추게 되어 순수한 예술장르로 편입되었다. 이러한 용도의 변천에 따라 시대별로 전각의 형태와 유형이 다양하게 나타나며 그 예술적 특성도 각각 다르게 표현되었다. 이에 본고에서는 유형별 특성이 강한 古鈢.官印.急就章.封泥.花押印.閑章印 등을 선별하여 그 특징과 예술성을 고찰해 보고자 하였다. 이렇게 전각의 예술성을 고찰함은 일반적인 관청에서 사용하는 官印, 개인적 용도로 쓰고 있는 私印, 건축물의 와당, 전돌 등의 쓰임에서 더 격조 높은 표현을 하게 할 수 있으며, 고대인들의 사상과 심미의식의 고찰은 전각에 대한 높은 인식의 전환을 가져 올 수 있을 것이다. 더 나아가 전각가들은 當代의 시대의식을 담아 현대인들의 공감대를 널리 형성할 수 있는 독창적인 작품을 창출해 낼 수가 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

As an art of the category of calligraphy, seal engraving is closely related to the sculpture, because the characters or miniatures are engraved or founded on the seal materials. And also its use was very various. In the primitive society, the maker of chinaware engraved or sealed his name or geometrical patterns on it. Since the period of the The Kingdoms equipped the national system, the official seals and the private seals appeared in large numbers as a token to identify themselves. Those seals were made for charms or accessories. The seal engraving of that time was that a famous calligrapher wrote the characters and then craftsman engraved them on the seal materials like as gold, silver, copper, jade and ivory, etc. But at the close of the Yuan(元) dynasty, literary men wrote the characters on the seal and engraved seals by themselves with the development of seal materials. In consequence, the world of seal engraving which was based on the mind of literary men was built, and the desire for seal engraving was spreaded. In result, the seal engraving formed the peculiar system of art and then it was classed as a genre of pure art in the age of Ming(明) and Ching(淸). With the changes in use, styles and contents of seal engraving appeared diversely. In this research, I'd like to classify styles of seal engraving with the changes of time by the old seal(古鈢), the official seals(官印), Geupchijang (急就章),Bongni(封泥), Hwaabin(花押印), Hanjangin(閑章印), and I tried to consider their characteristics and artistic characters. Through the research, we can express the noble style in the general official seals, the private seals, the patterns on the roofing tile, the characters of roofing tile, and bricks. And also we can analogize the life of ancient people and their aesthetic senses to bring the changeover of recognition for the seal engraving. More and more, engravers will be able to make the better works contained the spirit of the times to arise the sympathy of modern people.
