국문 초록

배경 및 목적: 과대비성의 청지각적 평가는 비성 정도를 평가하는 가장 타당한 평가 방법이지만 신뢰도 높은 평가가 이루어지기 어렵다. 본 연구는 청지각적 훈련과 외적 음성 기준이 과대비성의 청지각적 평가의 신뢰도에 미치는 효과와 두 변인간의 상호 작용을 살펴봄으로써 청지각적 평가 신뢰도 향상에 효과적인 방법을 제시하고자 하였다. 방법: 임상 경험이 없는 20명의 평가자들을 대상으로 듣기 훈련을 실시하여 듣기 훈련 전․후의 평가에서 신뢰도에 차이가 있는지 살펴보았다. 또한, 평가자들을 두 그룹으로 나누어 한 그룹에게는 평가하는 동안 외적 음성 기준과 평가하는 음성 샘플과 비교하면서 측정하게 하였고, 나머지 한 그룹에게는 외적 음성 기준 없이 평가하게 하여 외적 음성 기준치 사용여부에 따라 신뢰도에 차이가 있는지 살펴보았다. 결과: 듣기 훈련을 실시한 후에 평가자 내와 평가자 간 신뢰도가 높아졌고, 외적 음성 기준을 사용한 그룹이 사용하지 않은 그룹보다 듣기 훈련 전․후 신뢰도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 평가자 간 변산도 점수를 바탕으로 한 통계 분석 결과, 듣기 훈련 전과 후 사이에, 그리고 외적 음성 기준 사용 여부에 따라 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 듣기 훈련과 외적 음성 기준간의 유의미한 상호작용이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 논의 및 결론: 본 연구 결과는 듣기 훈련과 외적 음성 기준 사용이 과대비성의 청지각적 평가의 주관적이고 가변적인 요소를 통제하고 신뢰도 향상에 효과적임을 보여주었다. 『언어청각장애연구』, 2010;15;411-421.

영문 초록

Background & Objectives: Perceptual judgment is the most valid technique for evaluating hypernasality. However, perceptual rating of hypernasality is subjective, variable, and highly prone to error. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate factors which affect the reliability of perceptual judgment with regard to hypernasality and to determine methods to control its subjectivity and variability. The purpose of the present study was to investigate whether listener training and external standards have positive effects on the reliability of perceptual judgment of hypernasality among inexperienced listeners. Methods: Twenty students majoring in speech pathology with no or limited experience evaluating the speech of patients with cleft palate participated in this study. The students evaluated speech samples of 28 children with cleft palate for degree of hypernasality in conditions with and without external standards before and after listener training. Inter-rater and intra-rater reliabilities and variability scores were obtained to determine the effect of training and external standards on perceptual judgments of hypernasality. Results: The results revealed that listener training and use of external standards helped to improve the reliability of perceptual judgment of hypernasality among inexperienced listeners. There were significant listener training, external standards, and interaction (external standards by training) effects in perceptual judgment of hypernasality. Discussion & Conclusion: The results suggest that listener training and use of external standards were effective in controlling subjectivity and variability of perceptual evaluation and in improving the reliability of perceptual judgment of hypernasality among inexperienced listeners.
