국문 초록

배경 및 목적: 비성도 측정은 공명평가에 유용한 요소로서 잘 알려져 있다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 성별 및 지역 간 정상 성인의 비성도 차이를 연구하고, 그에 대한 정상 규준치를 제공하고자 하였다. 방법: 연구에 참여한 피검자는 총 482명(남자 237명, 여자 245명)이었다. 사용된 검사어는 ‘엄마 문장’, ‘동물원 문장’, ‘아저씨 문장’, ‘바닷가 문장’이었다. 실험 전, 연구자는 대상자에게 실험 조건과 실험 방법을 설명하였고, 이해를 돕기 위해 모음 /아/를 이용하여 선행 연습을 실시하였다. 검사어는 무작위 순서로 제시하였다. NasalView를 이용하여 평균 비성도(%)를 구하였고 모든 데이터는 녹음하였다. 결과: 성별 및 지역에 따른 평균 비성도는 ‘엄마 문장’, ‘동물원 문장’, ‘아저씨 문장’, ‘바닷가 문장’ 순으로 높았다. 성별에 따른 문장의 평균 비성도는 ‘동물원 문장’, ‘아저씨 문장’, ‘바닷가 문장’에서 여성이 남성에 비해 높았다. 지역에 따른 문장의 평균 비성도 차이 또한 통계적으로 유의하였다. 논의 및 결론: 성별에 따른 문장의 평균 비성도는 ‘동물원 문장’, ‘아저씨 문장’, ‘바닷가 문장’에서 여성이 남성에 비해 높았다. 지역에 따른 비성도 차이는 모든 문장에서 유의하였다.

영문 초록

Background & Objectives: The measurement of nasalance has often been described as a useful component in resonance evaluation. This study aimed to obtain normative nasalance scores and determine differences as a function of gender and residential area. Methods: Four hundred eighty-two subjects participated in this study: 237 males and 245 females from five different residential areas in Korea. The stimuli used in this experiment were four sentences: ‘Mother passage (nasal consonants ratio[ncr]: 100%),’ ‘Zoo sentence(ncr: 50%),’ ‘Uncle sentence(ncr: 0%),’ and ‘Sea sentence(ncr: 0%)’. The test sentences were presented in a random order. The NasalView was used to measure the recorded signals and to obtain mean nasalance values. Results: In the analysis of normative nasalance data as a function of gender and residential area, the order of the average nasalance scores from lowest to highest was ‘Sea sentence,’ ‘Uncle sentence,’ ‘Zoo sentence,’ and ‘Mother sentence’. The average nasalance score was higher in females than in males in ‘Sea sentence,’ ‘Uncle sentence,’ and ‘Zoo sentence.’ In the analysis of normative nasalance data as a function of residential area, the order of the average nasalance scores from highest to lowest was Chungcheong-do, Jeolla-do, Gyeonggi-do, Gangwon-do, and Gyeongsang-do in all sentences except for ‘Mother sentence.’ Discussion & Conclusion: The results provide regional criteria to help evaluate hypernasal and hyponasal speech due to a velopharyngeal inadequacy in a Korean speaker using NasalView. Also, the four reading sentences, which are relatively short in length, could be used effectively for children as well as adults.
