루마니아의 결혼 의례와 출생 의례

국문 초록

본 논문에서는 루마니아의 결혼과 출생에 관련된 의례를 종교적인 관념에서 살펴보고자 한다. 결혼 의례와 출생 의례는 중요한 통과 의례의 하나로 볼 수 있다. 통과 의례란 출생, 결혼, 사망 등 일생의 중요한 고비를 맞이하는데 있어서 거치게 되는 여러 가지 의례 행위로서 삶을 영속시키기 위한 심리적, 경제적 장치라고 할 수 있다. 한 사회의 구성원이 개별적이지만 공통적으로 거칠 수밖에 없는 문제에 대한 문화적, 종교적, 사회적 제도와 같은 것이다. 이것이 제도라는 측면에서 서로 다른 민족 간에 있어서는 물론 같은 민족 내에서라도 절차, 방법 등 구체적인 부분에서는 지역 간, 계층 간에 차이를 보이고 있다. 하지만 그 대략의 맥락과 그 본질적인 의미에서는 크게 다르지 않다. 통과 의례라는 개념을 최초로 도입한 반겐넵(A.Van Gennep)에 의하면 이것이 구체적인 면에 있어서는 차이를 보이지만, 그 본질적인 의미와 기능은 다양한 민족들에서 하나의 통일된 구조가 발견될 수 있다고 한다.통과 의례의 의미는 문화적 측면, 종교적 측면, 사회적 측면 등 여러 모습으로 이해되어질 수 있는데, 본 논문에서는 출생 의례와 결혼 의례를 중요한 통과 의례의 하나로서 파악하여 이를 종교적 측면에서 살펴본다. 본 본문이 "루마니아의 민속학"을 연구하기 위하 여러 논문들 가운데 하나로서, 루마니아의 민중들에 가장 포괄적이고 광범위한 영향을 미친 요소가 종교적 요소(원시적 종교를 포함하는) 라는 이유에서 이다. 먼저 일반론적으로 통과 의례라는 일반적 개념을 살펴보고, 이것이 루마니아 사회에서 결혼과 출생에서는 어떻게 발현되는가에 대해서 살펴본다. 결혼 의례에서는 셀리스테(Seliste) 마을의 결혼식을 예로 들어 설명한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research is to explore rituals related to Romanian marriage and childbirth from a religious perspective. Wedding and birth are one of the important rites of passage in human life. By definition, a rite of passage is a ritual that marks a change in a person's social or sexual status. Rites of passage are often ceremonies surrounding events such as childbirth, weddings, and death. In other words, they are a form of cultural, religious, and social institution to deal with events people have to go through not only individually but also collectively. While rites of passage are usually thought of as occurring within a given society, a similar pattern can be observed in every society. According to the French ethnographer Arnold Van Gennep who popularized the term “rite of passage", the event differs on details even within the same ethnic group, but it's nature and functions are all the same among differnt ethnic groups. Even though rite of passage carries cutural, religious，social meanings, this research focuses on religious aspects of the two important rites of passage: childbirth and wedding. As one of the papers exploring iRomanian folklore, this study was based on the assumption that religious elements, including those of primitive religion, have the most comprehensive and broad impact on the Romanian people. The first chapter explains general concepts of rites of passage and puts forward a careful examination of rituals in Romanian wedding and childbirth. And the following chapters present wedding ceremonies conducted in the village of Seliste as an example of marriage-related rituals.
