체코 출생 의례에 나타난 민속 신앙 및 종교적 요소 연구

국문 초록

기독교의 전래와 더불어 체코인들의 생활에는 기독교적인 요소와 토속적인 요소가 공존하기 시작했다 전통적인 체코의 출생에 관한 의례 중에서도 오늘날까지 잘 지켜지고 있는 것은 무엇보다도 체코의 전통적인 이름과 세례명을 짓는 것이다. 출생 의례와 관련하여 가장 중요한 풍속 가운데 하나가 바로 작명 풍습이라고 할 수 있다. 세례를 통해서 0)이는 이름을 부여받을 뿐만 아니라 마을 또는 사회 공동제의 일원이 된다. 이러한 출생에 관한 풍습에 대한 가장 오래된 기록은 연대기， 전설 그리고 선교사들의 여행기에서 찾을 수 있다. 전통적으로 체코는 출생 의식을 임신， 분만， 산욕의 세 가지 기본적인 단계로 나눈다. 이는 임신에서 산욕이 끝날 때까지 산모의 행동을 결정짓는 각종 미신과 의식， 관습， 터부， 교훈 등을 포괄하는 개념이다. 이러한 풍습은 주술과 종교에 기반을 두고， 신생아를 가족， 사회 및 교회의 일원으로 받아들이는 상정적인 의식을 행하게 된다. 체코는 전통적으로 아이의 출생에 대해 다양한 의식과 미신에 가까운 여러 가지 의례 행위를 가지고 있었다. 19세기 산업사회 이후 이러한 전통은 별로 지켜지지 않고 있지만， 유독 아이의 이름을 지을 때만은 전통적인 방법에 많이 의존한다. 체코에서 이름과 성씨의 변화 과정은 민속 신앙보다는 9세기 종교 전파 이래 기독교 문명과 밀접한 관계가 있다. 체코 사람들은 이름을 지을 때 기독교의 전례력과 고유한 민속 달력을 사용하여 왔다. 대개 달력 날짜에 표기된 이름을 따서 아기의 이름을 짓기도 한다, 현대에는 유명한 영화나 텔레비전 드라마 주인공들의 이름에서 자녀의 이름을 짓기도 한다, 체코에는 기독교의 전래와 더불어 세례명으로 이름을 짓는 풍습이 시작되었고， 그 이후 히브리어나 라틴어， 그리스어에서 유래한 이름을 사용하기도 했다 체코 달력에서 우리는 쉽게 고대 체코 이름들과 고대 슬라브 이름들을 찾을 수 있을 뿐만 아니라， 신조어 이름들도 찾을 수 있다. 체코인들은 아직도 전통적으로 달력에 근거하여 옛 성인이나 순교자들의 이름에서 따오는 기독교 세례명을 널리 선호하고 있다. 이처럼 작명 풍습은 체코 출생 의례에서 매우 중요한 위치를 점하고 있다 하겠다.

영문 초록

Set of original as well as adopted customs and rites related to the beginning of life was also mixed with quick spread of Christian faith. The spread of Christian faith and preserving of paganish customs thus coexisted. Among Czech habits and customs related to the birth of a child, naming is the most important phenomena. Official rituals of the Catholic Church were dominantly promoted, which, through liturgical means and gestures of belief - the christening - welcomed the child into its community. The oldest written notes about customs related to the birth can be found in chronicles, legends and travelogues of missionaries. Traditionally we can chronologically divide rituals of birth to three basic phases: pregnancy, delivery and puerperium. All the period can be observed as made of two levels: one is formed by operations motivated by health safety of mother and newborn, and his happy life. Here belong superstitions, rites, customs, taboos and instructions determining a mother's behavior from pregnancy to the end of puerperium. Many of these had roots in magic-religious foundation. Symbolically receive and recognize newborn as legitimate member of family, community and church In Bohemia traditionally there are so many rituals and superstitions about the birth of children, but since the industrial revolution of 19th century, those traditional rites have no been used until today. But naming children depends on traditional way. Development of personal names in the Czech Lands was related with religious culture rather than folk culture. Czechs use, beside a regionally modified Christian calendar, another calendar of its own. The Christian calendar remains for the Czechs of today sort of unchanging constant. In our time, some parents call their children after their favourite film or TV soap opera heroes. The calendar came into the Czech lands together with Christianity, and it brought foreign, Hebrew, Latin and Greek names too. People nowadays prefer, on one hand, Czech and Slavic names, on the other neologisms appear, which roll back historical names.
