청각장애유아의 인쇄물인식과 언어능력, 문해기술 및 가정문해환경

국문 초록

본 연구는 청각장애유아의 전반적인 인쇄물인식 및 그들의 인쇄물인식수준에 따른 언어능력, 문해기술, 가정문해환경 특성을 알아보았다. 연구대상은 청각장애유아 16명과 그들의 건청어머니였으며, 대상유아의 인쇄물인식수준에 따라 상위집단 8쌍과 하위집단 8쌍으로 구성하였다. 대상유아에게는 인쇄물인식, 언어능력, 문해기술의 수행정도를 측정하였으며, 대상어머니에게는 가정문해환경질문지를 작성하게 하였다. 기술통계분석 및 Mann-Whitney 검증을 실시하여 자료를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인쇄물인식의 총점은 11.00, 총점의 평균값은 .46이었으며, 인쇄물인식의 하위범주별 점수의 평균값은 책에 대한 개념 .97, 인쇄물 관례 .88, 인쇄물의 방향 .56, 인쇄물의 순서 .25, 상급인쇄물개념 .14 순이었다. 둘째, 청각장애유아들의 언어능력은 인쇄물인식수준에 따라 유의한 차이가 있었다. 셋째, 청각장애유아들의 문해기술은 인쇄물인식수준에 따라 유의한 차이가 있었다. 넷째, 청각장애유아들의 가정문해환경은 인쇄물인식수준에 따라 상이한 양상을 보였다. 따라서 본 연구는 청각장애유아의 문해지도에 활용될 수 있는 기초 자료를 제공했다는 점에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of print awareness in preschool children with hearing loss and the characteristics of language ability and literacy skills in children with different levels of their print awareness. The subjects were 16 preschool children with hearing impairment and their mothers. They were divided into two groups of different levels of print awareness. The preschool children were assessed with print awareness, language ability and literacy skills, and their 16 mothers completed a home literacy environment questionnaire. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and Mann-Whitney U test. The results were as follows. First, the mean score of print awareness was .46 out of total 11. In subcategories of print awareness, the mean score of book concepts was .97. The mean score was .88 in the print convention, .56 in print direction, .25 in the print order, and .14 in the higher print concepts. Second, there was a significant difference of language ability between two groups by print awareness level. Third, there was a significant difference in the literacy skills according to level of print awareness. Fourth, the home literacy environment of the preschool children with hearing loss showed different aspects according to levels of print awareness. This study provided basic informations that could apply the literacy instruction for preschool children with hearing loss
