에로스와 수사술의 교육적 해석

국문 초록

플라톤의 대화편 중의 하나인 파이드로스에는 인간의 영혼을 진리의 세계로 이끄는 과정이 서술되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 파이드로스에 드러난 두 주제인 에로스와 변증법적 수사술은 교육이라는 목적을 위해 상호보완적인 관계에 있다는 점을 논증하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 그의 저서와 후속 연구자들의 연구물들을 수집하고 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 밝혀진 결과는 아래와 같다. 영혼은 진리의 세계에 도달하려는 욕망을 가진다. 에로스는 인간의 영혼을 개별적인 육체의 아름다움에서 출발하여 보편적인 아름다움인 진리의 세계로 이끌리게 하는 동력의 역할을 한다. 하지만 인간의 영혼은 변증법적 수사술을 통하여 진리의 세계에 이르게 된다.

영문 초록

It is known that psychagogia is a central theme of the Phaedrus. It refers to the educational art of leading the soul toward the true Being. The purpose of this study is to make clear that eros and dialectical rhetoric which are two subordinate themes of the Phaedrus play its own role respectively to achieve educational aims. The results of the study are as follows: The soul has the desire to arrive to the plain of truth. Human soul has erotic desire to be drawn to a particular beautiful body. It recognizes the beauty in all beautiful bodies and seeks after the Beauty which represents the true Being finally. And it attains to know the true Being through dialectical rhetoric between dialectician and his students. Therefore, educators should teach his students to have a desire for seeking after the truth and to have a rational mind.
